Book Talk Review; Beautiful Darkness

Beautiful Darkness is the Second book in the Caster Chronicles.

Ethan Wate used to think of Gatlin, the small Southern town he had always called home, as a place where nothing ever changed. Then he met mysterious newcomer Lena Duchannes, who revealed a secret world that had been hidden in plain sight all along. A Gatlin that harbored ancient secrets beneath its moss-covered oaks and cracked sidewalks. A Gatlin where a curse has marked Lena's family of powerful Supernaturals for generations. A Gatlin where impossible, magical, life-altering events happen.

 Sometimes life-ending.

Together they can face anything Gatlin throws at them, but after suffering a tragic loss, Lena starts to pull away, keeping secrets that test their relationship. And now that Ethan's eyes have been opened to the darker side of Gatlin, there's no going back. Haunted by strange visions only he can see, Ethan is pulled deeper into his town's tangled history and finds himself caught up in the dangerous network of underground passageways endlessly crisscrossing the South, where nothing is as it seems.

This book brings out emotions that the first one didn't, They are both really good books and I have come to love these books. Very much.

I love the characters and I love the plot. I love the romance.

Things aren't always what they seem and that couldn't be more true than for this book.

After a loss that affects everyone Lena starts to pull away and make choices that confuses us all.

Ethan tries to help her, as much as he can. But there are some things that don't even make sense to the Casters much less Ethan.

We see so much happen within these pages and sometimes it is heart-wrenching.

I couldn't believe in some of the things that Lena had said or done, it hurt my heart. And the things that come to light, the things that are characters learned about themselves makes for an interesting and compelling and Oh my Gosh reading.

Some things that the characters learn about themselves makes sense. It brings certain things to light and lines up.

We get introduced to a few new characters in this one. Characters that will play an important part in the rest of the story.

Lena and Ethan have to endure so much. All the characters do. And a big part of it is the Duchannes Curse.

Sarafine and Abraham Ravenwood, a strong and powerful Blood Incubus join forces and try to take what is not theirs.

 Lena's Seventeenth Moon.

In which Lena Claims herself. Light and Dark. She makes her own path, but at what price?

That is what we learn in the upcoming book Beautiful Chaos which will have its own Book Talk Tomorrow.
