Cover Reveal; Break Even

I'm so excited to share this cover with y'all! It is beautiful!

Release Date: December 27, 2015

Cover Designer: Mae I Design and Photography

My story isn’t a love story … not the typical kind anyway.
As a lawyer, I’m used to discovery, but I never saw this one coming.

Every day, River gives me ten reasons to stay away, and then eleven reasons why I can't.
Our relationship was to remain strictly business, or at least I tried.

Four years of marriage, and everything with Cole has changed.
I never knew two people who lived together could be so distant.
But I’m not ready to give up on him.

One man wants to break me.

The other is just trying to get even.

Both are lying to me.

A knock sounds at my door, and Beatrice walks in with a bouquet of white tulips. “Looks like Cole wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday before his plane landed,” she remarks, placing the vase on my desk.

“Those are pretty,” I say, touching the base of my neck. Cole always gets me red roses. Always. Maybe this is his way of getting us out of our

“Would you like to me run and grab us some lunch?” she asks after seconds of silence pass.

“I’m not feeling all that hungry today,” I answer honestly. Guilt should be a diet pill.

“Are you feeling okay?”

I sit up straight in my chair. “Yeah, it’s just been a long week, and I’m anxious for Cole to get home. Besides, I don’t want to ruin dinner.”

“Well, if you change your mind, I’m running to the deli on the corner. You know my number.”

I nod, focusing my attention on the flowers as she walks out. Anxious, I pull the envelope with my name penned on it and slip the card out. My heart drops.

Last night didn’t go as planned, but I can’t say I regret a second of it

… up until I let you walk away. I’m only sorry you felt the way you did

after. I understand why you don’t want to see me, but if you decide you want

a better man, you know where to find me. The offer I made last night stands.

R. Holtz

Happy Birthday, by the way.

Without a second thought, I slide the note through the shredder listening to proof of the biggest mistake I’ve ever made being torn to shreds.

The flowers … they stay.

Special Announcement!

Hey y'all, so I have a very special announcement today.

You guys know I've been wanting to add a partner to the blog, there is always just too much for one person to do. So by stroke of luck I finally did!

I had posted in a few Facebook groups before that I was looking for help, only I didn't get any response, so I basically gave up. But I was in a group and someone made a post of all us lonely bloggers who needed partners and all those who wanted to become partners.

I had commented that I was looking for someone and I got a response within a few minutes! I love being a part of this community where people want to help each other out.

So without further ado I would like to introduce me to my new partner Deeps. I've been talking to her most of the night and she is just awesome! I think she'll make a wonderful addition to our little blog here. She already has her first post up, for her first time posting she did an excellent job. Check it out Here, really there are only a few differences in the way we set up posts.

Get to know Deeps, here's some basic information for you:

I am Indian and I study towards a BCom and maybe an MCom in Taxation and Accounting in New Zealand... I honestly love anything and everything about music and books. I need music in some form everyday or I will honestly go crazy... And I love that books can drag you into an alternate world even without your knowledge sometimes. I love that journey. Like I said, my favourite authors are Jessica Park, Lauren Layne, Jay McLean, Julie James, K.A Tucker and many more... And I love the colour blue. Oops. That was totally random. Also, I have like this crazy ass file that lists all the books I have ever read down to its main characters... :p

See y'all? She's just as crazy as I am, I think this blog is going to be bigger and better with her!

That's all for now. Any new updates I'll make sure to keep you informed!

As always thanks for sticking with me <3

Blog Tour; All That's Left To Hold Onto

When Ronan Sharpe unexpectedly left Colorado for parts unknown, he took a piece of Keely Carmichael's heart with him.

Letting go is all Ronan's ever known. Will he realize a life with Keely is something he should hold onto at any cost?

When Ronan Sharpe unexpectedly left Colorado for parts unknown, he took a piece of Keely Carmichael's heart with him.

After leaving his hellish roots behind him, Ronan found contentment when he started over. Thoughts of the past had been pushed down for so long; he hardly thought about it at all.

He intended to keep it that way.

When unexpected circumstances force Ronan to return to Colorado, the Keely he finds is no longer the adolescent girl he remembered. Torn between desire and fear, Ronan struggles with his feelings for Keely and his need to escape the town that scarred him so deeply years ago.

Letting go is all Ronan's ever known. Will he realize a life with Keely is something he should hold onto at any cost?

“I’m sorry,” he said as he ended the embrace and stepped back. “I have to leave.”

Knowing my denial and resistance weren’t going to make any difference, I swiped at my tears as I nodded.

“I’ll miss you,” I said on a choked sob. “Take care of yourself.”

“I’ll miss you too,” he replied softly. “You’re one of the few good people here.”

My heart galloped in my chest. I loved him for saying what he did—but hated that it came at such a horrible price. Losing him was unbearable.

He turned as if to leave, then stopped. Spinning back my way, he stared at me intently for a few moments before he spoke again.

“You’re so much better than any of these people. Don’t ever let them change who you are. The world needs a lot more you and a lot less them. No matter what anyone tells you—you’re perfect. Got it?”

I nodded as I wiped at the tears running unchecked down my face.

He hugged me again, very briefly. My heart skipped a few beats when he dropped a kiss on top of my head.

“Don’t ever forget your worth—not even for a minute,” he murmured.

When he let go, he said nothing else. He just turned and walked to his car. As he went, the chill in the air suddenly took hold of me. Hugging my arms around myself, I watched as he got into the car, turned it on and then pulled out of my driveway. He looked at me one last time before putting his hand up in a goodbye gesture. I did the same. A few seconds passed before he put the car in drive then sped off into the night.

I stayed outside for two or three minutes, hoping against hope he would change his mind and come back.
He didn’t.

Release Day Blitz; The Homespun Holiday

Dr. Mackenzie Daniels was a loner.
He had the divorce, a far-away family, and well-known cranky persona to prove it.
And if he had his way, he would continue on his loner way, in spite of the attempts of the townspeople to infiltrate his life with their irritating, so-called charming ways.
That was...until he met the beautiful Nurse Millicent Robbins.

Millie Robbins had done the love and marriage thing, and all she could say was that she got a beautiful daughter out of the entire debacle.
Love was not in her long-term plans when she graduated from nursing school, thank you very much....until she found herself falling head over heels for the grouchiest but most gorgeous doctor she’d ever met.

Can Mack and Millie find their way to love in spite of their histories?
Can happiness actually exist for two star-crossed lovers?

Join the entire town of Paradise for a Christmas celebration of lasting love!

“Fine. What about a favor, huh? Friends do favors for each other all the time, don’t they?” Mack volleyed smoothly, studying her. “How about you do me this favor, Millicent? You won’t deny me that, will you? Especially since you’re the one that got me into this predicament.”

“No, I suppose not. I’d be happy to spend the holidays with you and your family.”

“Same here,” he admitted softly. “Now, how do you feel about you and Paisley helping me decorate my place tomorrow? It’s Saturday. We both have the day off unless one of my patients decides to go into labor, and since nobody is that close to delivery yet, I think we’re pretty clear there. My family expects to fly into Paradise and find my home a completely undecorated mess. I’d love to knock my sister down a peg or two and surprise her with a perfectly designed Winter Wonderland. Really, this is the least you could do,” he grumbled when Millie didn’t make a peep. “Let me remind you once more that this shit is all your fault.”

“Such a sweet talker.” Millie sighed dramatically and batted her eyelashes demurely. “You sure know how to charm a girl.”

“My ex-wife used to say the same thing,” he reminisced.

“You were married? For real? To a woman?” Millie gaped in stunned disbelief, unable to imagine this male as a part of a couple. Sure, she’d had her fantasies about her sexy boss. Of course she had! He was hot. Lean and muscular in all the right places. And she’d bet her right pinky toe that he was hung like a horse. But that’s where the fantasy ended. Because in addition to all she fantasized about, Mackenzie Daniels was also surly, stubborn and an all-around Gloomy Gus on most all the days that ended in Y.

“For your sake, lady, I’m going to choose not to be offended here,” Mack returned mockingly as he fought a grin. “You don’t need to look quite so astonished; I’m not exactly an ogre, Mills.”

Staring up at him, Millie took stock of the Doc’s high, chiseled cheekbones, his dimpled chin, his square jaw and his perfectly sculpted, extremely kissable lips and she had to agree. “No, definitely not an ogre,” she whispered, as her tongue darted out to lick her suddenly dry lips. “What I meant to say is that I just never imagined anyone that valued his solitude and privacy as much as you do married to anyone.”

“I do enjoy my solitude and privacy, but I’m also a guy, Millie. I do like to fuck.”

Millie nearly choked on her tongue. “Women, right?”

“Yes, women! Did you assume I was asexual? Or did you think I was gay? Do I strike you as a latent homosexual, Millie?” he asked as his steady gaze connected with her nervous one.

“N-no, but if you did swing that way, you should know that Paradise has this lovely florist that’s been looking for love in all the wrong places,” she managed to impart through her mostly frozen lips.

“He’ll have to keep lookin’ then because I’m straight as an arrow, woman,” Mack growled, his eyes skating hungrily over her pretty face.

“Doc, why are you tellin’ me this stuff?” Millie asked, trying desperately to understand where and when this new and open Mackenzie had emerged. Would she find the ‘Old Mackenzie’ collapsed at his desk in the office? Was she hallucinating? What exactly had been in her sandwich from the diner?

“That’s what friends do, right? Share and shit like that?” he asked with a careless shrug.

“I reckon,” Millie mumbled. “But maybe we should think about getting back to the office. It’s almost two and you’ve got a 2:30 with Sandy Bingham.” Honestly, she was more than a little nervous standing here with him because suddenly Mack was eyeing her like she was a steak and he was a very hungry animal. And crazily enough, she found herself not minding in the least the idea of being his meal.

Ignoring her reminder of his afternoon appointment, he kept staring at her. “So, is that a yes to spending tomorrow with me?”

“I… uh…. I guess, if that’s really what you want,” she agreed, her cheeks blushing as she tried to make herself stop fidgeting like a teenage girl being asked on her first date.

“What about tonight? Are you busy tonight?” he asked.

“I don’t think so. Why?”

“Because, you haven’t seen my place. I want to show it to you so that you can get an idea of what we’ll need. I’ll even feed you if you’ll agree to help me out,” he offered calmly.

“I…you’re sure about this?” she asked, not quite able to believe that this man was volunteering to spend time with her. Or hell, with anybody really. Mack was a loner. Everyone, including her, knew it. He’d already knocked her off her axis with the news that he’d once had a wife. Now, he was acting like -- dare she even imagine it – like he was actually interested in her?

“I’m positive. And maybe tonight could be an adults-only evening since tomorrow will be kid-friendly,” he suggested smoothly.

“Uhmmm – okay,” she agreed slowly, nodding. “I’m sure my mom and dad won’t mind watching Paisley for a few hours.”

“Good,” Mack declared with a satisfied nod as he reached around Millie to open the vehicle’s door for her. “Then I’ll pick you up at your place around six. Is that enough time to get off work and get Paisley to your parents’ house?”

Millie nodded as she began to climb into the cab of the truck, her mind reeling as she tried to keep up with their conversation. Things were happening so quickly that she felt like she’d somehow fallen into an alternate universe – one where sexy-as-sin doctors wanted to spend time with her outside of work. “Yeah, that’ll be…great,” she acknowledged, her voice a little shaky. Offering him a dazed look, she shook her head.

“What?” he growled in that surly voice she knew so well.

“I don’t understand what’s happening here, Doc,” she said truthfully. “Have you just asked me out on a date?” she asked, her eyes twinkling with enthusiasm as her heart pounded in her chest.

Mack’s face flushed and he shrugged. “Why is it so important to women to label everything? We’re gonna share a meal tonight. If you wanna call it a date, I can’t stop you,” he declared before slamming the door on her reply.

“I’ll be damned,” Millie muttered to herself as she watched him slowly circle the SUV to reach the driver’s side. “It’s an honest-to-God Christmas miracle.”

Blog Tour; Invincible Summer

Title: Invincible Summer

Seth King

Release Date: November 17th, 2015

We all remember our first love, that one affair that took custody of your heart and never really let it go.
Readers around the world were touched by The Summer Remains, a heartbreaking and inspiring novel about one of these romances – but Cooper Nichols, the enigmatic young man at the center of the novel, was largely silent on the matter.
Until now.

“I just can’t believe it’s over between you guys,” my best friend said as we walked down the pier. “You two were supposed to last forever.”

I stared out at the blue sea. “Oh, trust me, it’s not over. I am going to see that girl’s face in every crowd I look into, forever. And maybe a few forevers after that…”
And so begins the tale of young writer Cooper Nichols.
Left in ruins after a tragic summer romance, Cooper is afraid the sun may have set on him for good – until his mother discovers a copy of Cooper’s journal he kept of that summer.
As he reluctantly slips back into his own past in the pages of his notebook, Cooper starts to rethink everything he thought he knew about life, death, and all the love that can bloom in between – and what follows is a thrilling and breathtaking journey back to joy that will sink into you and stay there for the long haul.

Illuminating, romantic and soul-stirring, Invincible Summer is a testament to the miraculous power of love, in all its immortal glory and everlasting majesty.
If you have ever found yourself drifting back to a long-lost romance during a quiet moment, prepare to be pulled under all over again.

“That one summer. Everyone’s got one, that fleeting season that rearranged you and imprinted itself onto your soul forever. You were mine. I swear I’ll never forget your hazel eyes. I swear I’ll never forget those few months when the winds roared. I’ll always think of you that way. And if you can, please come back to me. At the end of the day I’m just a boy who wants to get back to his first love, and I miss you. Just find a way back, please. I’ll be waiting.
Until then, I’ve got nothing…”

"Breathtaking. This book will change your life." - Schmexy Girl Book Blog

"Heart-achingly beautiful...I was life ceased to exist while I read this book...enlightening and uplifting...this book is extraordinary." - Relentless Book Chics Rambling and Reviews

I just can't do this book justice. I cried every beautiful second.

I knew Seth was going to break my heart and he did, oh he so did. From the first page until the last, I cried tears.

I knew that this was going to be a hard book to read. The Summer Remains broke me, it broke my soul. My heart is never going to be the same after this book.

Copper ripped me apart. His pain became my pain. It was beautiful.

Seth did an amazing job with this book, he tore his soul apart for us. He broke us, and he put us back together again. I can't believe that this book was able to happen.

I have never read a book that was as put together as this one was. I have never read a book that was put together so beautifully as this one.

Cooper was the character that I wanted to know more about in The Summer Remains, I wanted to get inside of his head so badly, but then of course, once we did, it broke me.

I can't give you anything that will spoil this book. All I can say is that Seth gave us a powerful book that I may never recover from. I was sitting at my uncles house, finishing this book and I couldn't stop crying, even though I was surrounded by my family as they celebrated the holiday.

It took me two weeks to read this book. It took me two weeks, because my heart couldn't handle it. I couldn't help but cry every time I opened this book. I didn't cry all bad tears. I cried happy tears at a few parts, I cried all kinds of tears, but I can't decipher all of the emotions that evoked them.
I can't wait to see what Seth comes up with next, I just know it's going to hurt my heart.
This book is heart-breaking, the writing is beautiful, the emotions are strong, but it will make you look at life differently.
I can't give you anything else, I can't spoil it for you, I can't tell you anything but read this book. Read it, and see for yourself. This will make you think about life and death, it will break you, and somewhat put you back together again.

Autumn Rising

Publication Date: July 16, 2015

Autumn Mahal and Hank Basara know they should stay away from each other. Both recovering from the loss of a mutual friend, and each bearing scars of their own, they know their love would look like a worn cliché, a trite romance novel for teens, some crappy made-for-TV movie languishing on your great aunt’s DVR.
But as summer gives way to September and flirtation leads to something deeper, they learn there are some types of love you cannot run from, no matter how hard you try to flee.

Hilarious, heartbreaking and hopeful, Autumn Rising is a novella about the happiness we ruin for ourselves, the truths we can’t hide with a filter, and that elusive and victorious moment when we let love rush in and carry us to the sky.
In a world of constant TMI, prepare to feel a story worth sharing – a story that will stay with you long after the summer fades to autumn.

:: Synopsis ::

In a stage of life when everything seems daunting, the fight to find love can still be the scariest thing of all – but in college senior Taylor Haney’s case, it may have just become downright deadly.

I’m bad – but I don’t want to be bad anymore.

In fact, leaving my Nashville life behind and swearing off love forever was the only thing keeping me from falling back into my old ways and fucking up again, and I was doing pretty well at pretending to be good – until I met Taylor Haney, that is.

Now I can think of nothing but Taylor.
Her shy smile…the way she fidgets with her hands when she gets nervous…the sounds she makes when I tie her to my bedposts and go to town on her…the way I get a glimpse of eternity when I look into her hazel eyes…

And that little lovey feeling is the worst thing of all, because it means I’m breaking all my old rules now – and that means nobody is safe.
Especially Taylor.

Because the last girl I fell in love with is currently lying in Brentwood Cemetery.

Blog Tour; Perfectly Imperfect

Meet Willow and Kane in the newest stand alone by Harper Sloan!

NOW AVAILABLE on the following retailers:
Mirror, mirror ... who's the fairest of them all?

I still cringe when I hear that line.
A fairy tale that had girls pretending they were the fairest, the most beautiful, and the most entitled.
A fairy tale most couldn't grow out of turned my haunted childhood memories into a living nightmare.
Girls who grew up believing that pile of garbage became the meanest of all 'mean girls.'

And those mean girls were right - it was a line meant for all the beautiful people in the world - and I knew the answer would never be me.

The women with long legs, flat stomachs, and perfect chests.

The type of women Kane Masters gravitated toward.

Well, that's definitely not Willow Tate.

 That will never be me.

Because I'm completely imperfect.

And ... I hate myself.

I have no idea what Kane could possibly see in someone like me when he could have them.

“Are you nervous right now?”

I nod.

“Tell me why.” His demand, steady and calm, gives me the courage I need to tell him. To open a vein and bleed my insecurities.

“I’m not perfect,” I whisper.

“And neither am I, Willow. I don’t want perfect. What so many see as perfect, to me, is fake. Perfect isn’t achievable naturally. No one, and I mean no one, is perfect.”

I’m shaking my head before he’s even done speaking, but one long finger comes up and presses against my lips before I can speak.

“No, let me finish. There isn’t beauty in perfection. It’s as fake as the image the word projects. Beauty is found in imperfection, Willow, because to admit you’re not perfect means you’re admitting you’re not whole and absolute. When I think of myself, I see someone willing to admit he’s as far from complete as it gets because, in order to get to that perfection, I need to find the other part of me who will make my life better. To take all the faults I have and fill them, and only then will I be there. You see, the way I see it, the only way to become perfect is to find that perfectly imperfect person who brings it out of you.”

When he stops, I swear I might have stopped breathing. How am I supposed to respond to that?

“Do you trust me?” he asks, his voice strong and sure.

“Yes, Kane. Nerves or not, I do.”

“Then let me show you what I see when I look at you.”

He brings his hands up, framing my face once again in a way I’m quickly becoming addicted to the feeling of. His warm eyes implore, begging me without words to let him continue. I do not intend to stop him, regardless of the butterflies currently taking over my system. I’m all in.
About The Author
Harper lives in small town Georgia just a short drive from her hometown of Peachtree City. She (and her 3 daughters) enjoy ruling the house they dubbed 'Estrogen Ocean', much to her husband’s chagrin. Harper has a borderline unhealthy obsession with books; you can almost ALWAYS find her with her eReader attached. She enjoys bad reality TV and cheesy romantic flicks. Her favorite kind of hero--the super alpha kind!

Harper started using writing as a way to unwind when the house went to sleep at night; and with a house full of crazy it was the perfect way to just relax. It didn't take long before a head full of very demanding alphas would stop at nothing to have their story told.
