J Speaks (L&J #1.5)

“I came here, baby, to tell you I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you.”  He inhaled sharply, but said in an even voice. “And I can’t lose you before the greatest fight I will ever wage.”

Redemption. Could I absolve him? I lay in a hospital bed for two weeks. All of it at his hands. I’d been marred, though the scar on my skin was not the worst damage. It was a reminder of the scar I’d carried inside. Could he erase that scar? Could he heal a wound one could not see?

There was silence, deafening silence. I tried to keep it together. I used every ounce of energy I had to keep the fire at a low flame, but it blazed through me. He would’ve shot my kid, and I couldn’t let that happen. These kids, they’d become my lifeline. My light.

“Without those kids, I’m just as dark as you.” I said emotionlessly, empty. These last few weeks of pretending during the day, only to come home and sob until sleep graced me was maddening. “I’ve got nothing left to give you, J. Nothing.”

I hung my head, losing the fight with the tears that had been threatening to erupt since J arrived. “I can’t be your light, when I have none.”

We lay on the floor, two damaged bodies searching for the light. J pulled my head into his hands, bringing us face to face. I could feel his breath against my lips. “You were a comet that bust into my life out of no where” he whispered. “I begged for you. On my knees in the dirt, I groveled to the sky to bring me light. And there you were, at Eight Oh Eight, staring up at me, even though I knew you couldn’t see through the window. I saw you, though. Elle, I saw you long before you saw me.”

“How could I love a killer?”

“How much pain was worth loving this man?

“Please, baby. Please. I need you. I love you. I can’t go into this without knowing you’ll be here when I return.”
“I’m not sure what to say. I want to tell you I’ll wait. That I’ll be here, waiting like a good girl for you. I want to because I love you. Fuck, I love you.” I turned, finally ready to look him in the eye. “I don’t know where I’ll be. I can’t tell you that. But I can tell you that I love the fuck out of you, and no matter how much I try to stop,” I paused. Fuck this mother fucker. Fuck! God, why was he doing this to me? Angry tears, sad tears, hopeless tears, tears filled with longing fell from my eyes. J caught then with his thumb, but there were too many. They ran over his fingers like a waterfall.

“Fuck, J. I don’t want you to die.”
He pulled me to him, and I inhaled his scent. I’d never be able to smell Acqua di mother fucking Gio again and not think of him. Today it was mixed with the smell of exhaust, like he’d been riding around all night. For what felt like the gazillionth time, I crumbled into his arms. How did two times come to be a number exponentially higher?

“I don’t want to die, baby. I want to fall asleep next to you. I want to wake up next to you. I’m fighting this war for you. To be with you.”

Damned If You Don't Tour

Andrew Jackson “Jack” Kent’s on the hunt for white collar criminals, and as a private investigator he always gets his man. Except in this case it’s a woman, the brilliant cellular kineticist Dr. Morgan Mackenzie, whose next thrilling discovery is—him.

On the run from her employers with the formula for a priceless but deadly diet drug, Morgan agrees to a night of pleasure with the outrageously sexy stranger. But when she leaves the next morning, Jack won’t let her get far, and that’s when she realizes the horrible truth. Her cowboy on a white horse isn’t a hero after all. He’s part of the posse.

Yet when Jack goes to turn Morgan in, he learns who the real criminals are, and suddenly, it’s a race against time to find a murderer before they’re killed themselves. To do that Jack needs to convince Morgan he’s on her side. Even though she doesn’t trust him, Jack is a drug she can’t resist, leading her to find out that more often than not you're Damned If You Don't fall in love.

Morgan stopped in the middle of the staircase.  Don’t turn.  Don’t turn.</ span>

The picture of dimples and a smile to die for simply wouldn’t let her go.  Were they worth her principles?  Hadn’t she put him into enough danger as it was already?  Her stomach knotted with the truth.  She wanted him.  She wanted everything he was offering.   She had no right to take it.   Because if one hint of her problems touched him, he could end up an accessory.

Her hand gripped the railing.  One enchanted evening.  He doesn’t even know your real name.
One fairy tale night.  Even if they track you back to him, he could say he’d been duped.
Think.  Think.  Make sure.  Her grip tightened, knuckles turning white with the strain.  Trembling fingers of her other hand rubbed at her temple.  There are always consequences and this is his life, not only yours.

Eventually, the people who were after her would pick up her trail.  The proprietor would remember her and probably be able to identify Morgan even though she’d changed her appearance.  No one would ever know she and Jack had any other contact than being guests at her establishment at the same time.  And if they did, he could simply tell the truth—she’d lied to him.</ span>

The front door opened.  Morgan ran up the rest of the steps, slipping into her room as quietly as possible. With her cheek pressed against the door, she could hear Jack climb the steps, his tread slow, deliberate, and she hoped disappointed. A picture came to her, his face full of indecision as he raised his hand to knock on her door.

Her heart broke as she imagined that same hand falling to his side.

The floor creaked in the hallway.  He’d turned.  Headed towards his room.  Without thought, Morgan cracked open her door.  Her jaw dropped as he stepped into the room next to hers.
Fate or design?

She didn’t care.  Her gaze shot to the right and spied an adjoining door.  Fate or design?  It didn’t matter. Not when the possibility loomed so large it blinded her with its promise.
Promethium tantalum.

Her heart began to pound.  She couldn’t catch her breath.  Her throat turned dry as dust as another reality slammed into her psyche.  God, it had been so long.  All sane thought flew from her mind.  Except one.  Mouthwash.  And a dab of cologne.

Don’t question.  Don’t look in the mirror.

Not even lipstick?

Hesitant steps brought her to the adjoining door.  As quietly as possible, Morgan unlocked and opened her side.  She stared at the wood from his side.  Now for the moment of truth.
She pushed.  The door swung open.

Our usual table is inhabited by the usual suspects – Shane, Will, Brandon and of course, Luke. He has his back to me and doesn’t know I’m here yet. So I walk to the DJ booth and tell him to queue up a song for me. I had a few drinks at the pub we just left, I’m pissed and I’m really fucking hurt, so I’m going to take it out on the stage. The song, Just A Fool, is actually a duet between Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton, but tonight I’m singing it solo. And I’m singing it with every bit of emotion I have bubbling just below the surface of my cool fa├žade. The lyrics are perfect for me right now. I obviously feel like a fool because I can’t get over him and I can’t let him go, but I know I should. I feel like I’m weak for wanting him to make this all up to me. For even thinking I could forgive him if he would just do something to take this pain away. Love feels like a cruel joke and no one has hurt me in the way that he has. I just want to forget about love and about him, but somehow he’s in every thought I have and every move I make. I leave the stage and a friend from the gym I haven’t seen in a while stops me and asks me to dance with him. Another slow song is playing so I step into his embrace and we take the opportunity to catch up. He asks how I’m holding up, knowing how bad my life sucks right now, and I give him a non-committal shrug of my shoulders. Christina taps on my arm and her gaze suddenly shifts and I turn to see what she’s looking at. Oh. It’s Luke and he is charging forward like a bull, hell-bent on his destination. Which happens to be me at the moment. “Andi,” he barks at me. “Yes,” I reply smugly. I watch intently as he grits his teeth and clenches and flexes his hands. His anger is barely contained and he’s working hard at restraining himself. I know I’m not helping it but I’m no more in the mood to be fucked with right now than he is. “I need you to come with me,” he finally says. “No.” He nods his head, seemingly understandingly, until I realize that I read him completely wrong. He just decided he wasn’t going to argue with me. In the typical method of the men in my life, he picks me up with ease, throws me over his shoulder, and charges back to the front door. People watch with amused expressions as I scream obscenities at him like a lunatic until he reaches the door. Then I realize we’re going outside and there may be cameras that catch me actually acting like a lunatic so I stop. “Luke – do not walk out that door with me over your shoulder. I’m in the news enough as it is. I don’t need to add any more to it,” I say in my sternest voice possible. This stops him in his tracks and I know he hears the words I didn’t say – thanks to your family. He puts me down but doesn’t let go of me. “Then walk with me like a normal person would.” I sigh heavily, not hiding my dislike of his demand, and respond with the typical pissed-off female response. “Fine.”

Book Talk Review; Percy Jackson amd the Oplympians The Last Olympian

The fifth and Final Book in The Percy Jackson Series by Rick Riordan

All year the half-bloods have been preparing for battle against the Titans, knowing the odds of victory are grim.
Kronos's army is stronger than ever, and with every god and half-blood he recruits, the evil Titan's power only grows.
While the Olympians struggle to contain the rampaging monster Typhon, Kronos begins his advance on New York City, where Mount Olympus stands virtually unguarded.
Now it's up to Percy Jackson and an army of young demigods to stop the Lord of Time.
In this momentous final book in the New York Times best-selling Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, the long-awaited prophecy surrounding Percy's sixteenth birthday unfolds.
And as the battle for Western civilization rages on the streets of Manhattan, Percy faces a terrifying suspicion that he may be fighting against his own fate.
No better way to end a heart stopping exciting and very well written series than this book right here.
Everything Percy and his friends have faced over the years all leads up to this.
This moment that can either save Western Civilization or end it.
I was entranced by this book. More so than I have been by any other Percy Jackson Book.
We watched Percy and his friends grow up, we watched them go through pain, fight monsters, try to come to terms with their Olympian Parents and prepare for the battle of their lives.
I have grown to love the characters.
The story line is so good and so captivating.
Percy gets the prophecy. The one that's haunted him since he first stepped foot in Camp Half-Blood.

And as he fights against Kronos to save those he loves his fate is put before him.

Is he meant to save those he loves, and the world around him, or is it in the cards for him to leave it all behind.

My heart stopped on more than one occasion as I read this book.

It is defiantly one I will enjoy reading over and over again.
It's not over yet Percy and his friends come together again to fight what seems like an impossible battle in The Heroes of Olympus.
Look for the first Book Talk on The Lost Hero (Book 1 in The Heroes of Olympus Series) Soon!

Book Talk Review; Percy Jackson and The Olympians The Battle of The Labyrinth

The Fourth Book in The Percy Jackson Series

 The Battle Of The Labyrinth

As an incoming freshman, Percy isn't expecting his high school orientation to be any fun. But when a mysterious mortal acquaintance appears, followed by demon cheerleaders, things quickly move from bad to worse.
In this fourth installment of the blockbuster series, time is running out as war between the Olympians and the evil Titan lord Kronos draws near.
Even the safe haven of Camp Half Blood grows more vulnerable by the minute as Kronos's army prepares to invade its once impenetrable borders.
To stop them, Percy and his demigod friends will set out on a quest through the Labyrinth—a sprawling underground world with stunning surprises at every turn.
Full of humor and heart-pounding action, this fourth book promises to be their most thrilling adventure yet.
This series takes you places and the journey has just begun.
Kronos's army has a way into Camp Half-Blood if they can navigate their way through the maze.
Annabeth takes a quest to find Daedalus's workshop before Luke and his followers can. Grover has seven days to  find the God Pan. Percy and his Brother Tyson take on the quests with their friends.
I don't now how to describe this book it has all the same danger and the same shocking reveling secrets but the time for war is looming.
This adventure takes the battle straight to Camp. Destroying the demigods to leave the Gods defenseless.
The Battle with Kronos is weighing heavily on everyones shoulders and the revelations in this book scares everyone.
The Labyrinth is a maze. It is a living maze that holds many dangers and it feeds off of your fears.
Daedalus built the maze and his workshop is the heart of it. The Labyrinth holds home all across America and has many entries to it.
Like any maze one way can be a dead end and the other can be your way out...or your way into trouble.
But when the maze is alive...anything can happen.
Percy and his friends face dangers of all kinds underground, but the most dangerous they face is the old friend.
The one who betrays them all.
If you have yet to read this series then go go go get it.
I strongly recommend anyone who has yet to read to go and read.
Tune in Tomorrow for The Book Talk on the final book in the Percy Jackson Series- The Last Olympian

Book Talk Review; Percy Jackson and The Olympians The Titain's Curse

The Third book in the Percy Jackson Series...

When the goddess Artemis goes missing, she is believed to have been kidnapped.
And now it's up to Percy and his friends to find out what happened.
Who is powerful enough to kidnap a goddess?
They must find Artemis before the winter solstice, when her influence on the Olympian Council could swing an important vote on the war with the titans.
Not only that, but first Percy will have to solve the mystery of a rare monster that Artemis was hunting when she disappeared-a monster rumored to be so powerful it could destroy Olympus forever.
I swear these damn book just keep getting better and better.
Percy teams up with Artemis's hunters to save the Goddess.
 Who can kidnap a Goddess?
This book has excitement right from the beginning, because we expect nothing less from Rick at this point right? Well it's true, after the first two books we have high expectations and He doesn't disappoint!
We meet new Gods and New Characters, New Monsters, and New revelations.
The Titan's Curse speaks for itself in the title alone.
Percy must race across the country to face The Titan's Curse-not only to save The Goddess, but also one of their own...
To say I am addicted to this series is an understatement.  Rick just keeps you on your toes and you have no idea what's going to happen next.

Action and excitement and Magic and Danger makes me keep wanting these Books.

I am invested in the Percy Jackson Series and It is one of my favorite Series.

The Characters just keep getting stronger, having everything that has been thrown at them and taking it to make them stronger.

I wish these Heroes luck on their journeys. As each one learns about themselves and about their Olympian Parents and the Past, Present, and Future that comes with having a God as a Parent.

Tune in Tuesday for The Battle Of The Labyrinth

Book Talk Review; Percy Jackson and The Olympians The Sea Of Monsters

Bad News: I'm a day behind. Good News: I have a Book Talk for you!

Book Two in the Percy Jackson Series

After a summer spent trying to prevent a catastrophic war among the Greek gods, Percy Jackson finds his seventh-grade school year unnervingly quiet.
His biggest problem is dealing with his new friend, Tyson-a six-foot-three, mentally challenged homeless kid who follows Percy everywhere, making it hard for Percy to have any "normal" friends.

But things don't stay quiet for long. Percy soon discovers there is trouble at Camp Half-Blood: the magical borders which protect Half-Blood Hill have been poisoned by a mysterious enemy, and the only safe haven for demigods is on the verge of being overrun by mythological monsters.
To save the camp, Percy needs the help of his best friend, Grover, who has been taken prisoner by the Cyclops Polyphemus on an island somewhere in the Sea of Monsters, the dangerous waters Greek heroes have sailed for millennia-only today, the Sea of Monsters goes by a new name the Bermuda Triangle.

Now Percy and his friends-Grover, Annabeth, and Tyson-must retrieve the Golden Fleece from the Island of the Cyclopes by the end of the summer or Camp Half-Blood will be destroyed.
But first, Percy will learn a stunning new secret about his family-one that makes him question whether being claimed as Poseidon's son is an honor or simply a cruel joke.
This one is just as good as the last and it allows takes you deeper into the world of Greek Mythology.I love how Rick incorporates everything into this series.
The way that the Myths go about and how they are intertwined into the main plots of the story makes the Books that much more awesome to read.
The Way the Author is able to fit the real world into the ancient Greek world amazes me. Not many Authors would be able to pull it off.
Percy's seventh grade year goes quietly-surprisingly. he made a friend. Tyson this big-kid who kind of adopts Percy.
When Annabeth finds Percy and Tyson they are beat up after getting into a fight with some big man-eating Monsters from up north.
Arriving on Half-Blood Hill awaits another fight against monsters as they try to fight their way into the camp.
The Camp is in danger, the Magic Tree that protects the Camp is poisoned and the borders are fading. Monsters are awaiting their chance to enter the Camp.
The Golden Fleece. A Magical Fleece that Jason many years before had retrieved from the Sea Of Monsters.
But Grover- Percy's best friend is missing. However, where he is being held by the Cyclops Polyphemus so is The Fleece.
The group of friends must Journey to the Sea Of Monsters and get the Fleece in order to save the camp.
Percy also gets a surprise from his dad- a big Surprise. One that has him questioning whether or not being Claimed as the Son of Poseidon is really that special.
This series is a great series for kids. It's a great way to teach about Greek Mythology and one that everyone will love.
Saturday The Book Talk for The Titan's Curse goes up. Tune in then!

Book Talk Review; Percy Jackon and the Olympians the Lighting Thief

The first book In the Percy Jackson and The Olympians Series by Rick Riordan is The Lightning Thief

Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school...again. And that's the least of his troubles.
Lately, mythological monsters and the gods of Mount Olympus seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology textbook and into his life. And worse, he's angered a few of them.
Zeus's master lightning bolt has been stolen, and Percy is the prime suspect. Now Percy and his friends have just ten days to find and return Zeus's stolen property and bring peace to a warring Mount Olympus.
But to succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the true thief: he must come to terms with the father who abandoned him; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and unravel a treachery more powerful than the gods themselves.

This is a great way to start off the series. I am a big Greek Mythology fan and this book is so good.

The story id great for kids and adults to fall in love with.

Percy is a normal twelve year old boy who has both ADHD and Dyslexia... And he is going to get kicked out of boarding school. Again. It's not like Percy tries to get kicked out. He really doesn't.

But now things are getting worse, for starters he almost gets killed while on a field trip by his math teacher.

Then while on Vacation he gets chased by a bull-man.

Come to find out he's a Demigod..

He mom Sally is a good mortal woman and his dad is an all powerful Olympian.

Percy goes to Camp Half-Blood to learn on how to be a Demigod.

Then he gets pulled into a quest with his best friend Grover (Who happens to be a Stayr) and this girl Annabeth.

They have ten days to find Zeus's Master Bolt and return it to him. Zeus and many of the other Gods, balme it on Percy.

They journey to find the Master Bolt is not an easy one.

Monsters and Gods try to stop Percy from finding the Bolt. Many of them try to take the Bolt from him that he doesn't have.

This book has action and adventure and magic and Greek Gods and Monsters and Dangerous Quests.

Tuesday the Book Talk For The Sea of Monsters will be up!
