Book Talk Review; My Unexpected Forever

The second book in The Beaumont Series by Heidi McLaughlin

While there is a novella that comes after Forever My Girl, I haven't read it yet, but I plan to. Like all the books in the Series the novella is a standalone. When I get around to reading it I will do the Book Talk.

I expected a life of music.
I expected to raise my son.
It took one look to make everything change.
  I never expected happiness.

I never expected to find her.
I never expected to feel desire.
I never expected I’d be a family man.
I never expected to be loved.
I never expected to fall in love.

They say you should expect the unexpected, I didn’t realize my unexpected would be the forever kind.
Harrison James. He is so sexy, so sweet, and just so my type of BBF.
Katelyn is the perfect mom, perfect wife, who is slowly unraveling from the death of her husband.
We learned in Forever My girl that Liam's best friend from high school, and Katelyn's first love Mason died. We see the affect that event leaves on his wife and little girls in this one.
We learn how Harrison ended up a single dad. How his son was suddenly thrust upon him, and how he couldn't ever imagine a life without him.
Harrison never expected to fall in love, especially with Katelyn. But he's drawn to her. Much as Liam was always drawn to Josie. Only this is different. This isn't a story of finding your lost love. This is a story of finding your love, that you didn't know was there.
While Katelyn will always love Mason in her own way. He was her first love, they were married, they had two precious little girls.
I think the reason why I loved this book so much is because it's so beautifully done.
Heidi is a fantastic author who really knows how to write a good love story.

Tune in tomorrow for the Book Talk on Finding My Forever

*Quote- "Thing is, Katelyn, love doesn't know the way someone looks. Love knows the inside of who that person is."- Liam

"From the moment I saw her eyes, I knew she was the one for me, the one that is going to make my life complete. I made a change in my life because of her. I really can't see myself doing something to screw it up."-  Harrison

A.D. Elliss Release Day

For Nicky by A.D. Ellis
Due out April 30, 2014
Elizabeth Decker views herself as shy, totally average, and pretty much insignificant. She’s nothing special, at least not compared to her little sister, Audrey. Elizabeth is content with her plain and lonely future; she’s too insecure to contemplate a relationship thanks to her sister. Audrey is a bombshell and uses this to get what she wants. She’s a girl who will stop at nothing to control anyone and everything around her. She craves power and doesn’t care if she has to hurt Elizabeth to get it.
Nathaniel Morgan has spent his whole life fighting for his twin brother, Nicholas. Somewhere along the way, he lost himself. Now he’s just getting by. He’s devoted to his family, but emotionally detached from the women he burns through like wildfire. He has no plans of getting into something as complicated and committed as a “relationship”.
Nicholas Morgan has placed the new librarian, Miss Elizabeth, on a pedestal and is begging her to meet his twin brother, Nathaniel. Elizabeth and Nathaniel agree to meet, for Nicky. Both are caught off-guard when unexpected sparks fly between them. This was not in their plans. Will Nathaniel and Elizabeth be able to escape a past that still plagues them? What are people saying about the book so far??

A.D Ellis was born and raised in a small farming town in southern Indiana. An avid reader from the time she learned to read, A.D. could often be found curled up somewhere with her nose in a book. Most of her friends were not such book enthusiasts which earned her a few snickers when she was constantly reading.
A.D. had always dreamed of being a teacher. She earned her degree in Elementary Education from Indiana State University in 1999 and her Master’s Degree from Indiana Wesleyan in 2003. A.D. has been teaching in the inner city of Indianapolis for 15 years. While she’s taught several different grades, fourth grade is her favorite. They are learning independence by 4th grade, but most haven’t learned the attitude yet. A.D. loves teaching fractions, variables, probability, and graphing in Math. She loves almost all aspects of English Language Arts. Figurative language, theme, making predictions, drawing conclusions, inference, context clues, making writing come to life, A.D. loves it all! Her students may not be in agreement with that excitement.
A.D. met her husband in college in 1996 and they married in June of 2000. A.D. lives in a south side suburb of Indianapolis, Indiana with her husband and two school-aged children. When she’s not reading or writing with music blaring, she can be found shopping at thrift stores, reading to her children, and running.
A.D. had always pondered the idea of writing a book, but until recently it was a far off dream. In today’s age of independently published authors, A.D. decided to take a chance and try her hand at writing. She has learned so much during this journey and is having a world of fun with it.

Book Talk Review; Forever My Girl

It's time for a new Book Talk, Forever My Girl by Heidi McLaughlin kicks off the new week!

I was never supposed to be a rock star. I had my life all planned out for me. Play football in college. Go to the NFL. Marry my high school sweetheart and live happily ever after.

I broke both our hearts that day when I told her I was leaving. I was young. I made the right decision for me, but the wrong decision for us. I've poured my soul into my music, but I've never forgotten her. Her smell, her smile.

 And now I'm going back.

 After ten years.

I hope I can explain that after all this time.

I still want her to be my forever girl.

This is the first book in the Beaumont Series

This is the story of Liam and Josie. After Ten Years Liam is back in Beaumont. After Ten Years he sees Josie.

Josie, who's heart he broke when he decided to go out and break the mold.

Josie, his high school sweetheart and the only one who's ever had this rock stars heart.

With Liam back in Beaumont Josie has mixed feelings, she still loves Liam, but its been ten years.

And then Liam gets a surprise, one that changes his whole world again.

Josie and Liam belong together, that is easy to see. Even after all the years they spent apart there's no denying how much they love each other.

Josie it seems has moved on though, she is with Nick now, one of the guys they went to school with. The town doctor and someone who knows how much they love each other. Someone who just wanted a chance.

Of course there are hard times and Josie doesn't exactly warm up to Liam when he shows up in her shop one day.

And of course there is always that one woman after those irresistible rock stars who just can't let them be happy.

But This book was so good. I can't even tell you how good it is. You'll just have to go and read it for yourself. Heidi is an amazing writer, she is a truly amazing writer.

Her books are so good and the characters are so real. The guys are so protective and sexy, so amazing.

*Quote- "I never thought I'd see the boy who stole my heart and failed to give it back> I'm not sure I want it back." -Josie

All the other quotes I have kind of give too much away. SO go out and buy this book and fall in love with the characters. On Tuesday I will have the Book Talk for My Unexpected Forever Book 2 in The Beaumont Series

Book Talk J Sterling

Our next Beautiful Author is the amazing J Sterling!

Jenn is the author of In Dreams, Chance Encounters, The Games Series; The Perfect Game, The Game Changer, and The Sweetest Game, and her latest release Seeing Stars.

I got fired from my last job.

It's true.

I know you're sitting there thinking, "Jenn, how could anyone in their right mind fire someone as amazing and awesome as you are???" And i'd love to give you a good reason, but the truth is... being This! Awesome! is clearly very scary to other less awesome people.  :)

So I said screw them and started writing my first book. And you know what I realized? Writing books that mean something to me is a million times better than working my ass off for someone who doesn't really care about anything other than the bottom line.

My soul feels more satisfied.
My heart, more full.

So thank you for reading, loving and recommending the stories I write.
I think you're awesome- and not only am I not scared of other awesome people, I want them on my team!

Click HERE to read a post where I talk about how you all have changed my life. :)

Book Talk Review; Maybe Someday

We are at the end of our Colleen Hoover Feature. What better way to wrap it up than with her latest and Greatest?

 Maybe Someday

At twenty-two years old, Sydney has a great life: She's in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her best friend, Tori.
But everything changes when she discovers Hunter's cheating on her--and she is left trying to decide what to do next.

Sydney becomes captivated by Ridge, her mysterious neighbor. She can't take her eyes off him or stop listening to the passionate way he plays his guitar every evening out on his balcony.
And there's something about Sydney that Ridge can't ignore, either. When their inevitable encounter happens, they soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one...

And there's more! In the Book Sydney and Ridge write Lyrics together...

Well The Amazing Griffin Peterson Collaborated with Colleen and created an Original Soundtrack that Goes along with the Book!

You can purchase the Album on iTunes, Amazon, and Google Play

Or you can go to the website and listen to the songs free of charge.. But I highly suggest you buy them. Griffin is amazing!

  Now for the Book Talk:
Maybe Someday starts out with Sydney meeting Ridge for the first time.  After she catches her Best Friend cheating with her Boyfriend.

Prior to that Sydney and Ridge had only communicated through text messages. Ridge used to play his guitar out on his patio and he noticed that Sydney was sitting across the courtyard signing along to the songs he hadn't written lyrics to yet.
Ridge was in sort of a writers block and convinced Sydney to send him some lyrics. He liked them they were awesome.
He invites her up to his apartment after she has no where to go and  convinces her to stay. They become fast friends, Ridge convinces her to write lyrics with him for his band.
Eventually they start to incorporate their feelings for one and other in the song lyrics.

 Things turn messy fast.

I love this book so much! It is by far my favorite CoHo book! And that is saying something because I am in love with Dean Holder and the Hopeless Series. But Ridge Lawson takes the cake on that!

Maybe Someday is more than just a book. It is an experience. We get to not only read the lyrics that the characters write to each other but we get to listen to them. It is truly an amazing experience and everyone who hasn't read it yet needs to read it.

Sydney hopes for a 'Maybe Someday' with Ridge, until she learns about his girlfriend.

Yes Girlfriend, Ridge has a girlfriend. But before you go and think things about how you hate cheater books let me say this.

It is not a cheating book! Believe me I hate cheating as much as the next person. But it happens, and yes it does happen in books, I have read books that it has happened in. But Maybe Someday is NOT one of those books.

Yes, Ridge has a girlfriend, and yes, he does end up falling in love with Sydney, But That does not mean he cheats on his Girl.

He Loves his Girl, very much so and it is proven over and over again how much he loves her. And I really loved the Girlfriend.

I was actually torn between Maggie and Sydney at times.

I cried during this book, But y'all already knew that I was gonna say that. I say that just about every book I Review.

The Music, The Book, The Characters, The Feels, They are all amazing.

*Quote- "Desire is easy to fight. Especially when the only weapon desire possesses is attraction. It's not so easy when you're trying to win a war against the heart." -Sydney

"I'm convinced that people come across others in life whose souls are completely compatible with their own. Some refer to them as soul mates. Some refer to it as true love. SOme people believe their souls are compatible with more than one person, and I'm beginning to understand how true that might be." -Ridge

"Sometimes in life, we need a few bad days in order to keep the good ones in perspective." -Warren

Thank you for being here as we end our Feature on one of the best authors I have ever read! Book Talk Review; Finding Cinderella

And We're Back! Sorry for the Technical Delays that went on this past week but We are ready to continue with our Colleen Hoover Feature!

A chance encounter in the dark leads eighteen-year-old Daniel and the girl who stumbles across him to profess their love for each other. But this love has conditions: they agree it will only last one hour and it will only be make-believe.

When their hour is up and the girl rushes off like Cinderella, Daniel tries to convince himself that what happened between them only seemed perfect because they were pretending it was perfect. Moments like that with girls like her don’t happen outside of fairytales.

One year and one bad relationship later, his disbelief in insta-love is stripped away the day he meets Six: a girl with a strange name and an even stranger personality. But Daniel soon realizes that fairytales don’t exist, and unfortunately for Daniel, finding Cinderella doesn’t guarantee their happily ever after…it only further threatens it.

I love Daniel, he is hilarious and I was so happy that he got his own book, even if it is just a novella.

We learned in Losing Hope that Daniel hung out in the maintenance closet because he didn't have a fifth period. We also learned that he met a girl in there.

We get to see what happened when he ran into the girl in the maintenance closet. But we don't know who she is.

A year later Daniel is breaking up with Val, his girlfriend, who in my opinion does need to take some Valium and calm the fuck down.

He ends up at Sky's house and meets Six, Sky's best friend who just returned from a foreign exchange program in Italy.

They go on this really awesome date and make a connection.

I love the easy barter they have with each other. How there personalities fit so perfectly together. Like they were meant to be together.

Daniel pretends to be in love with the girl in the closet. They pretend to be in love with each other and they experience what making love to someone is like. Not just having sex with them, but having sex with someone you love.

When Daniel discovers that the girl he pretended to be in love with is the girl he might actually be in love with, it doesn't have a fairytale happily ever after.

Fairytales aren't real and that revelation might be the death of Daniel and Six's.

*Quote- "Don't open your eyes, give me ten more seconds to stare, because you look absolutely beautiful right now."- Daniel

"We all have deal breakers, Daniel. Some of us just hope we can keep them hidden forever."

Tune in tomorrow for The Book Talk On Maybe Someday, Which will end our Colleen Hoover Feature.

Guess what? You can Read Finding Cinderella for free today and everyday! Yup, thats right it costs $00.00 to own this ebook by one of the most amazing writers out there. So if you haven't read it yet go get it, or if you know of someone who hasn't read it yet get it for them!

Excerpt

“I came here, baby, to tell you I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you.” He inhaled sharply, but said in an even voice. “And I can’t lose you before the greatest fight I will ever wage.”</ span>
Redemption. Could I absolve him? I lay in a hospital bed for two weeks. All of it at his hands. I’d been marred, though </ span>the scar on my skin was not the worst damage. It was a reminder of the scar I’d carried inside. Could he erase that scar? Could he heal a wound one could not see?</ span>
There was silence, deafening silence. I tried to keep it together. I used every ounce of energy I had to keep the fire </ span>at a low flame, but it blazed through me. He would’ve shot my kid, and I couldn’t let that happen. These kids, they’d become my lifeline. My light.
“Without those kids, I’m just as dark as you.” I said emotionlessly, empty. These last few weeks of pretending during </ span>the day, only to come home and sob until sleep graced me was maddening. “I’ve got nothing left to give you, J. Nothing.”
I hung my head, losing the fight with the tears that had been threatening to erupt since J arrived. “I can’t be your light, when I have none.”
We lay on the floor, two damaged bodies searching for the light. J pulled my head into his hands, bringing us face to face. I could feel his breath against my lips. “You were a comet that bust into my life out of no where” he whispered. “I begged for you. On my knees in the dirt, I groveled to the sky to bring me light. And there you were, at Eight Oh </ span>Eight, staring up at me, even though I knew you couldn’t see through the window. I saw you, though. Elle, I saw you long before you saw me.”
“How could I love a killer?”
“How much pain was worth loving this man?
“Please, baby. Please. I need you. I love you. I can’t go into this without knowing you’ll be here when I return.”
“Fuck, J. I don’t want you to die.”
He pulled me to him, and I inhaled his scent. I’d never be able to smell Acqua di mother fucking Gio again and not think of him. Today it was mixed with the smell of exhaust, like he’d been riding around all night. For what felt like the gazillionth time, I crumbled into his arms. How did two times come to be a number exponentially higher?
“I don’t want to die, baby. I want to fall asleep next to you. I want to wake up next to you. I’m fighting this war for you. To be with you.”</ div>

Emily is a Midwestern Gal, but could be anywhere as you read this. She gypsy's the country, as well as south of the border. Adventure feeds her soul, and offers great writing material. She loves kids and working with kids, but can only handle caring for four-legged furry friends. A crazy dog and laid back cat have trained her to be their partner in life. Vices include Swedish Fish, ignoring chores in favor of reading, and caring too much for people in her life. She chose to write this bio in third person as she is an Aries, and found writing in first person ended up with her writing an excessively long life story. </ span> Aries like to talk about themselves. It is something Emily is working on being more mindful of.

This feeling of contentment and satisfaction was so new and refreshing. I finally saw a beginning rather than an end. Everyone started walking toward the back deck while I took one more look out toward the vast stretch of sand. This beach town held the origin of my fears and the depth of my heartache. But today, it represented the birth of my new life, one that included Cole. However, looking toward the water's edge, my elation was stripped form me as I stood staring into the aqua-colored eyes of my greatest fear.

About the Author

I am a middle school teacher who recently traded in my chalk for a laptop to follow my dream of writing romance novels. I live with my husband and two daughters in the suburbs of Philadelphia. When I'm not writing, I spend my time reading and relaxing with my family at my home-away-from-home, the Jersey shore.
After I graduated from Villanova University in 2003, I never imagined my path would lead me in this direction. Writing was a hobby, an outlet for me to live in a world of happily ever after. Now I watch my dream become a reality, I believe that happy endings do exist.

Blog Tour; Checked by Jennifer Jamelli

Callie spends countless hours staring at appliances to make sure they are really unplugged. She wastes obscene amounts of time checking for murderers in various corners of her house and entire sleepless nights performing pointless checking rituals. Then every spare minute is filled with inspecting doorknobs, chairs, floors, etc. for minuscule traces of germs. Oh, and she does all of this as she counts to three over and over again in her head. She does this every day. Without fail. Dr. Blake just doesn't fit into her schedule. Until he does. Until Callie begins to trust him. Until she starts to need him. And want him. And . . .

Jennifer Jamelli has spent most of her life reading and writing; she holds both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in English, and she is an 8th grade English teacher.

She also directs a musical production each school year. Her most recent show was Beauty and the Beast.
Jennifer lives with her husband and her four-year-old son.

She, like the main character in her debut novel, has a rather hopeless case of OCD.
