Blurb

There once was a boy, and I loved him.

Logan Francis Silverstone and I were complete opposites.
I danced, and he stood still.
He was quiet, while I ran my mouth.
He struggled to find a smile, and I refused to frown.

The night I saw the darkness that truly lived inside of him, I couldn't look away.

We were broken together, yet somehow whole.
We were wrong together, but always right.
We were the stars that burned across the night sky, searching for a wish, praying for better tomorrows.

Until the day I lost him.

He threw us away with one hasty decision--a decision that changed us forever.

There once was a boy, and I loved him.

And for a few breaths, a few whispers, a few moments, I think he loved me, too.

Review

I have adored Brittainy C. Cherry since I read Loving Mr. Daniels last year. And I have adored each and every book after that.

There's something about her writing that speaks to me. I don't know if it's the deep and emotional characters or the way her words reach out to me.

I will admit, this book wasn't my favorite, but it was still good. I was still reminded why I love romance. It seems I can never leave the genre. Because while I think I'm ruined, it's books like this that remind me why I love love stories.

This book is raw and hard, and deep. The fire that burns through both characters make this a wild ride of emotion.

Logan feels the darkness of his past consuming him. Making him jaded and undeserving of the love that Alyssa has for him.

Alyssa is the opposite. She doesn't let the troubles of her past affect her light. At least now always.

These two souls find each other, and then they lose each other.

I think one reason why I enjoy reading Brittainy's books is becasue she always knows how to bring the romance. She always knows how to make her characters connect on deeper levels. It takes skill to write characters that are flawed, that have their own set of problems, and make them fall in love with someone who seems so wrong.

It's always interesting to read a romance book, and see a relationship that seems so real, come to life.

So while this book isn't my favorite, it is still really good. I love Logan, but then I've always been attracted to those types of book boyfriends. The tragically flawed boys who seem so lost. The ones who hold out for that one special girl. The guy who fucks up over and over and admits that he isn't always the best person.

Alyssa didn't hold me that much. I liked her well enough, if only because I think she didn't deserve all the shit that was thrown at her. She was a good person, a really good person. And it sucks that the people in her life couldn't see that.

A friendship like Alyssa and Logan's is real. It's what most of us want.

A love like they have, no matter how fucked up, is what we want. To know that someone can love us just as much as we love them. Even if they can't always admit it.

If you liked The Aur He Breathes then you'll like this one as well. They go well together

I look fforward to what Brittainy has coming for us next.
