Book Talk Review; Confess

Colleen Hoover has done it again!

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover, a new novel about risking everything for love—and finding your heart somewhere between the truth and lies.
Auburn Reed has her entire life mapped out. Her goals are in sight and there’s no room for mistakes. But when she walks into a Dallas art studio in search of a job, she doesn’t expect to find a deep attraction to the enigmatic artist who works there, Owen Gentry.

For once, Auburn takes a risk and puts her heart in control, only to discover Owen is keeping major secrets from coming out. The magnitude of his past threatens to destroy everything important to Auburn, and the only way to get her life back on track is to cut Owen out of it.

The last thing Owen wants is to lose Auburn, but he can’t seem to convince her that truth is sometimes as subjective as art. All he would have to do to save their relationship is confess. But in this case, the confession could be much more destructive than the actual sin.

I love everything Colleen writes. I loved this book to, but to be honest it wasn't all what I thought it was going to be. Don't get me wrong, it was an amazing book, but as excited as I was for it, I thought there could have been something more.

Auburn has just moved to Texas, she is looking for another job in order to pay for some expenses. (No Spoilers!)  She happens to stumble across Owen and his art studio.

Owen and Auburn have an instant connection, and you find out from Owen that they have a deeper connection than Auburn realizes. Only you don't find out how.

I have to give credit to Danny O'Connor for the amazing artwork that he did. He has so much talent, every single painting in the book was amazing. I am so going to have to figure out a way to buy the print outs so I can hang them up.

Auburn has secrets that she wants to keep hidden, she has her life mapped out. What she can't afford is anything getting in her way. But she can't deny the pull she has towards Owen.

Owen's secrets are the only things that are keeping him away from Auburn. He wants to tell her, but when he finds out her biggest secret, he knows why he can't.

I  honestly was so excited for this book, but I felt like it fell kind of flat. I loved it all the same, Colleen is an absolute genius, but I couldn't help but feel there was more there. I still felt all the emotions that I normally feel when I read CoHo, but they weren't as intense.

I fell in love with Owen though, he was able to grab me and make me love him so much. And I did tear up a little at the end of the book. The prologue though is where I had the trouble with tears, within the first five minutes I was a mess, a blubbering, sniffling, giant mess.

I spent a lot of the book confused, as I tried to figure out what was going on, that was a good thing though. I loved how it kept me on my toes as I tries to figure out what excavate was going on with the characters.

*Quote- "I'll love you forever. Even when I can't."

"It's amazing how much distance one truth can create between two people."- Owen

"I don't feel lost in him at all, because it's the first time I've ever felt like someone truly found me." - Auburn
