One last heist.

It should’ve been easy. Crack a safe, steal from a villain, and go on vacation. The last thing Mack and Toshiro expect is to descend into a nightmare of betrayal.

Mack Ueda-Easton loves three things: his husband, heists, and his odd family of friends. He lives life on the edge. The only cloud on his horizon is the degenerative disease stealing his sight.

Toshiro Ueda-Easton tries to juggle his husband, his autistic sister, his interfering mother, and all of their heists. He knows they’re spiraling out of control and the journey they’re travelling can’t last.

What neither of them expect is to get catapulted straight into a dangerous conspiracy. They’re now in a race to come out on top. If they fail, the consequences are unimaginable.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Mack and Toshi aren't your typical couple. They're criminals. But, they're also family oriented, love each other with everything they are, and have a strong relationship.

Toshi and Mack have built their lives pulling off heists. For Mack it's a family legacy, a life he doesn't see himself leaving, until everything seems to go wrong. From his health, to the strain between his husband and his mentor, to trying to keep his mismatched family together. The only thing that keeps him going every day is Toshi.

Toshi sees how fast their falling and it's taking everything to keep their family and lives together.

What I really liked was how together Mack and Toshi were. They dealt with everything thrown at them together, often you have drama between the couples. Despite how close, how much in love there's usually always relationship drama. That doesn't happen here. They don't allow the things they're dealing with to tear them apart, instead they strive to stay strong together. That's what I love.

I did have an issue with the way Toshi's sister, Charlie is referred to a few times in the beginning. I thought her being autistic was handled well enough, there was just some phrasing that bothered me. Other than that the writing was solid, the characters were all fleshed out, and the suspense was there to keep my interest.

I've only read a few books by this author but I wouldn't be opposed to more from this couple.

Dahlia Donovan wrote her first romance series after a crazy dream about shifters and damsels in distress. She prefers irreverent humour and unconventional characters. An autistic and occasional hermit, her life wouldn’t be complete without her husband and her massive collection of books and video games.
