Book Talk Review; Catching Fire

Today's Book Talk is on the second Book in The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins.

 Sparks are igniting.

 Flames are spreading.

 And the Capitol wants revenge.

Against all odds, Katniss has won the Hunger Games. She and fellow District 12 tribute Peeta Mellark are miraculously still alive.

Katniss should be relieved, happy even. After all, she has returned to her family and her longtime friend, Gale. Yet nothing is the way Katniss wishes it to be.

Gale holds her at an icy distance. Peeta has turned his back on her completely.

And there are whispers of a rebellion against the Capitol - a rebellion that Katniss and Peeta may have helped create.

Much to her shock, Katniss has fueled an unrest she's afraid she cannot stop. And what scares her even more is that she's not entirely convinced she should try.

As time draws near for Katniss and Peeta to visit the districts on the Capitol's cruel Victory Tour, the stakes are higher than ever.

If they can't prove, without a shadow of a doubt, that they are lost in their love for each other, the consequences will be horrifying.

In Catching Fire, the second novel in the Hunger Games trilogy, Suzanne Collins continues the story of Katniss Everdeen, testing her more than ever before...and surprising readers at every turn.

This book made me cry. The stakes are higher for everyone. The Capitol is unhappy with the results of the 74th Hunger Games, and they make their revenge.

There are all these twists and turns that shock everybody as Suzanne unravels this story and world piece by piece.

Talk of rebellion flood the rumor mill and Districts all around stand up to the corrupt Capitol, using Peeta and Katinss and the daring move they pulled during the Games as hope, as revolution, as a spark.

Threats and devastating news impact not only Katniss, Peeta, and Haymitch, but the entire nation of Panem as well.

There were so many feels in this book. Feels of sadness, of anger, of revenge, of hatred, and of love.

We meet new characters and we are once again thrust into the fast paced, action and suspense as the book moves forward.

The end is faced with hard decisions, painful revelations, and heartbreaking truths. I couldn't help but cry as everything played out. And the world that Katniss and Peeta knew and fought for comes crashing down around them.

Peeta, stuck in his mind and the love that he feels for Katniss shuts her out. Hurting both of them as she hurt him.

Katinss, confused and vulnerable tries to figure out what's going on in her head. She uses her strength to push away the people that she cares about the most. Stuck in her own head she tries to navigate the testy waters and make not only herself but everyone around her safe and happy.

When Katniss and Peeta are thrust together once again it's hard to figure out the muddled thoughts and confusing feelings between the two of them. But at the moment they have bigger things to worry about.

With the mounting tension and the crash course ending I was so caught up in the emotion of this book that when things turned ans twisted the way they did I couldn't help but cry.

A lot of things happen during this book, a lot of character growth and a lot if hardships.

All of it preparing our beloved characters for the ultimate survival game. Book Talk for MockingJay to go up Tuesday.
