The highly acclaimed Sustained (The Legal Briefs #2) followed the story of a big, burly man who, against all his plans and ideas about his future, becomes mush at the hands of 6 orphaned children and they're angelic aunt, Chelsea.
Jake Becker is the definition of a hard-ass when it comes to the court-room and his story didn't quite end on paper with Sustained (yay!). Emma Chase has decided to grace us greedy fans with Sidebarred. Just like Sustained, the one-person POV (of Jake) follows the lives of Jake and Chelsea and they're adorable McQuaid brood.
2 years into his marriage with Chelsea, Jake has learnt the in's and out's of resolving teenage bickering, making orders that the kids will follow and the art of maintaining a happy family. He is the epitome of an attentive and loving husband. Little does he realise that, soon, his life could turn upside down, thanks to the the tiniest ripple in the sea.
Married life and life as a dad (for all intents and purposes) has suited him perfectly and he is completely comfortable saying that he is whipped by his wife. His job is everything to him and he is not likely to throw away his skills and the precious guidance of Justice Atticus Faulkner. A lot has changed in life over these two years and a lot more is about to change <3
Personally, this little novella is the amazing ending to the lives of Stanton, Sophia, Jake, Chelsea, Brent and Kennedy <3 I can not possibly want for anything more from Ms. Chase. The epilogue was everything and it's inclusion sealed the deal for me. I can't wait for everyone to read this gem of a book.

By day, Emma Chase is a devoted wife and mother who resides in a small town in New Jersey. By night she is a keyboard crusader, toiling away the hours to bring her colorful characters and their endless antics to life. She has a long standing love/hate relationship with caffeine.
