Review
This book is good. It's just not for me.
I can get behind a good alpha every once in a while. I can even handle one who has a dominating presence. I can handle a girl who has to be a submissive every once in a while. But only for so long.
I'm rating Biting Point three-stars because it's not a bad book. I just felt like it was lacking certain elements. The book is told mostly through Kaidence's POV, with some of the racers POVs thrown in the mix.
Kaidence and Titan meet when they both need it the most. Neither one of them wants to accept the fact that they have given up, but they don't see how they can keep going with their hopes up. Love finds them when they need it the most. And that's what is important in this story.
Fate, or destiny seems to take a big role in Biting Point, and Lezlynn does a good job incorporating the idea of fate into the book. You believe that the characters are meant for each other. You believe that this is all some grand scheme.
Though Biting Point is mostly told by Kaidence in the present tense, there are times when past tense gets thrown in. As an author who writes mainly in the first person present tense myself, I know that previous thoughts and actions have to told within the past tense to signify what happened right before. But it seems that the story was being told in the past tense before the author again switched to the present. This makes for an inconsistent read.
I also felt that Kaidence gave in too much or too easily to some of the little things when it came to Titan. I'm all for the alpha male thing, like I said. But I also appreciate a strong heroine and the guy having to work for what he wants. Dominating and Alpha I can do. But I can't do controlling.
All in all, Biting Point is geared toward a specific audience and I don't think I'm that audience. Though I did enjoy the boosts of body image that it gave me, being as I'm what my friend and I call 'huggable'. It's hard being in a society that calls you that ugly f-a-t word. I applaud Azalea May Lezlynn for that.
