Broken Pieces (Book 4)
Broken Pieces is officially my favorite book by H. D'Agostino. I have to admit I was a little nervous going into this book. Love triangles aren’t my thing. But H. D’Agostino wrote this story really well with very strong and well-developed characters.

I loved Ally. And watching, no not watching, experiencing everything she went through in this book was pure torture. My heart broke for this girl and the situation she was in and choices she had to make. It was so well written that I felt like everything was happening to me.

The guys….oh my gosh the guys. I don’t even know where to start. I loved them both. Carsen is perfect, almost. And Joey is <swoon>. I found myself rooting for both of them. I just couldn’t choose, which makes me admire Ally even more. Look at me talking about her like she’s real. Haha
I definitely loved the book. I loved the story, the drama, the emotions and the truly beautiful and touching moments throughout. I would absolutely recommend this!

Irreparably Broken (Book 1)
I’m going to be honest. I didn’t think I had to worry about triggers. I was wrong. This book made me feel things I didn’t really want to feel again. That’s how well H. D’Agostino encapsulated the fear a victim of abusive feels.

I felt for Maddie. I felt for her in a way I never have with a character before. H. D’Agostino wrote it all perfectly: the way Maddie always looks over her shoulder, not wanting to give out her address, being afraid of simple everyday things. And that frightening moment when all her greatest fears came true.

Cole was awesome. I was a little annoyed with him in the beginning. I felt like he pushed Maddie to quickly. In one sentence he said he understood and the next he was doing something that contradicted his so-called understanding. But, I still loved him and how he helped Maddie learn that she had the power and control of her own life and that no one could take that from her.

The ending of this book threw me for a loop. I was not expecting a cliffhanger and nearly threw my kindle in frustration. Luckily, I already had book two.

Saving Us (Book 2)
Even though I had a bit of a difficult time with triggers in book one, I couldn’t leave off with the way it ended. There was just no way. I needed an end to Cole and Maddie’s story.

Saving Us picked up right where Irreparably Broken had left off. I can’t say much about that, because it would be a major spoiler to anyone that hasn’t started the series yet. There’s so much happening all at once and so many new storylines are introduced, but each one seems to be resolved with ease. Almost too much ease.

And then it ends in ANOTHER cliffhanger. WHAT?! It’s even worse that the first one! I couldn’t believe it. But H. D’Agostino did very well to pave the way for book three and truly kept me on the hook wanting more.

My Broken Angel (Book 3)
OH MY GOD!! I was THRILLED that Wes got his own book!! We met Wes in the first two books of the series. He’s actually Cole’s best friend. And in My Broken Angel we actually get to see these two guys as young boys. It’s heartbreaking, honestly. But to see the full depth and strength of their friendship and how it grew over the years was amazing

Then we have Angela, Cole’s sister. We also already met Angela and got a good taste of her’s and Wes’ love/hate relationship. I always loved their banter though. I thought it was cute and witty and couldn’t wait to see where it would lead, if it led anywhere. Hence, my excitement over this book.

It’s a tropey story: best friend’s baby sister, both guys fiercely protective of her, and she’s extremely stubborn, but who cares? It’s HOT!! I for one loved Wes and Angela’s story and am very much looking forward to read Ally’s story next.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

Let's talk about your new book, Broken Pieces. Why did you feel the need to tell this story?

I really wasn't planning to write this book when I started the series. Originally, this was supposed to be a trilogy. I ran a contest on my page to be a side character in one of my books. The girl that won was named Alison. I added Ally into My Broken Angel as Angie's best friend. When I finished writing that book, I knew Ally needed her own story.

What part of it called out to you the most?

The secret of who the two men in her life were. I don't want to spoil the book for those that haven't read it, but I wanted her decision to be hard. I wanted her to have to choose between what she thought she should do and what she wanted to do. Those two choices are very different.

I wanted her to think about her happiness as well as her child's and come to the conclusion that if she wasn't happy, it would hurt her son in the long term.

And what makes your book stand out from the crowd?
It's a unconventional love triangle of sorts, and Ally's choices in the end aren't what most readers are expecting.

Is there a certain scene that you find the hardest to write? What would you say is the easiest scene to write?

I don't really think any scenes were hard. I have a habit of not keeping up with my brain when the ideas come. There are times when I know what I want to happen, but the story's not there yet. As far as the easiest... the ending. I usually know exactly how a book will end before I even start.

It says on your website that you started writing with fan-fiction. What kind did you write?
Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. I still have 5 stories up on the forum there. There's a long story behind why I started there, but that's for another time.

All of your books are romance. Have you ever thought about branching out to other genres?

Not really. I have romantic suspense, that's about as far out of my comfort zone as I've gone.

What is one thing that people THINK they know about the Romance genre that isn't so?

That all romance is the same. There are so many sub-genres that people don't know about. I get asked all the time if my books are like 50 Shades. That's a big fat no. I don't write BDSM. I don't have anything against it, it's just not something I'm well versed enough in to do it justice.

I don't like to compare myself to other authors and it's hard when readers want you to do that.

You've written a few different series with a range of characters. Which characters from different series do you think would couple together if all the series crossed, and they had to choose different partners? Why do you think those couples would work?

I have never thought about that. There is a slight crossover between The Broken Series and The Second Chances series. Hannah from The One That Got Away is Maddie's boss in Irreparably Broken. I've had very few readers pick up on it though. I don't think the ages would work with many of them though because all but one of The Second Chances books are new adult, and the others have such different personalities.
Leah from the Shattered books might pair well with Wes from My Broken Angel. They're both athletes, but I really have a hard time seeing them with other partners.

Which of your characters are you most likely to get along with?

Leah or Morgan. I put more of 'me' into their characters than any of the others.

Characters often find themselves in situations they aren't sure they can get themselves out of. When was the last time you found yourself in a situation that was hard to get out of and what did you do?

Right now. I'm working on a spinoff series for the kids of The Shattered Series. I'm writing Emma's book and she's got her dad, Nick, mad at her. I have a hard writing him as the overbearing father because he doesn't come across that way in his books.

I'm still working on how to make this plot work and have his personality stay consistent.

What question do you wish someone would ask about your book, but nobody has? Write it out and answer here:

How much of the series reflects your life? I'm told all the time that I just have a way with words. That my plots seem so believable and they don't understand how I can make them feel like they're right there living it. The truth is The Broken Series is the only series I've written that doesn't have a personal experience in it. All my other books have a scene or character that is in my real-life or an event that happened to me. None of the Broken books do though. They are 100% fictional. Are they realistic? yes, but they are not based on people I know or events in my life.
