Book Talk Review; Nine Minutes

One of the best books I've read

On May 15, 1975, fifteen-year-old Ginny Lemon is abducted from a convenience store in Fort Lauderdale by a member of one of the most notorious and brutal motorcycle gangs in South Florida.

From that moment on, her life is forever changed. She gets a new name, a new identity and a new life in the midst of the gang’s base on the edge of the Florida Everglades—a frightening, rough and violent world much like the swamps themselves, where everyone has an alias and loyalty is tantamount to survival.

And at the center of it all is the gang’s leader, Grizz: massive, ruggedly handsome, terrifying and somehow, when it comes to Ginny, tender. She becomes his obsession and the one true love of his life.

So begins a tale of emotional obsession and manipulation, of a young woman ripped from everything she knows and forced to lean on the one person who provides attention, affection and care: her captor. Precocious and intelligent, but still very much a teenager, Ginny struggles to adapt to her existence, initially fighting and then coming to terms with her captivity.

Will she be rescued? Will she escape? Will she get out alive—or get out at all? Part psychological thriller, part coming-of-age novel, filled with mystery, romance and unexpected turns, Nine Minutes takes readers into the world of one motorcycle gang and inside the heart of a young girl, whose abduction brought about its fall.

***This book is recommended for 18 years and older***

This book was so fucking good.
I'll admit, I'm not big on MC books, but this is more than a book about a Motorcycle gang. This is about love, possession, obsession, manipulation, friendship, and growing up.

Ginny, is fifteen, so young, so sweet, when she is ripped from the life she knows and thrust into a world she never asked for.

As Ginny tries to survive, things come together and fall apart.

How can one girl survive the horrors of her new life? When her capture is the vicious cold-blooded gang leader?

How can her heart survive when it's pulled towards such violence?

Can she really fall in love with her capture? Does he really have a soft side?

And what happens when the secrets of Ginny's disappearance come to light?

That's all y'all get from me. You'll have to read the book to get to the heart of the story, there is so much in this book, I would feel like I'm spoiling it for you, if I give you anything.

There is so much going on in this book that when you get to the end you're just like WTF. But a good mind-fuck. Is there such thing?

Beth does a fantastic job of keeping the reader on their toes, giving them one story while slowly weaving another one behind it. You get so much out of this book. You get a love story, you get a mystery surrounding why Ginny, you get a mind-fuck through all twists and turns as Beth reveals little by little what actually happened.

I didn't think I could love Grizz, but he held a soft spot in my heart. Even though he was a vicious bastard, he still treated Ginny so good. I think that's why I couldn't hate him.

I admired how Ginny managed to survive, it was hard at times. It was difficult for her to live the life she did, but she had so much strength she didn't let her situation get to her. She made herself stronger, she adapted to her situations.

You wouldn't think that a book with this type of premise could be enjoyable, but it is. It's scary at times, but it is also enjoyable.

I can't wait for Out Of Time, the sequel to this amazing book.

"I was no victim. Never had been. Never would be." -Kit

"A story about a man who has loved me from the very beginning, from first glance. The man who always was and still is my soul mate. That's the only love story now." -Ginny

"He had no way of knowing that the brotherly care and concern for a child would turn into love. That she would become his obsession and the one true love of his life. That she would eventually be the reason for his death. Even if he did know it then, he wouldn't have changed a thing." -Grizz's POV
