Book Talk Review; Irreplaceable

Sweet and Hot!

Kyle Stafford has a crush.

He’s his own boss and answers to no one…except his sister, who he’s hired to help out with his highly successful food truck business. But he’s drowning in paperwork he doesn’t understand, and while he should be focusing on that, all he can think about is the attractive man who just moved into his building. When Kyle finally gets an opportunity to introduce himself, he fails miserably and is rebuffed in a spectacular fashion. But Kyle is persistent and won't be so easily dissuaded.

Kyle struggles to find an in with his hot neighbor, until one night, thanks to a package with a familiar return address, Kyle discovers that they have a lot in common than he thought...

Alex Holloway is starting over.

When most twenty-one-year-olds were club hopping and graduating from college, Alex Holloway was filing for divorce and dropping out. Freshly relocated to a new city, his ego is bruised and his emotions damaged, but Alex is determined to be happy. To be himself. His best friend urges him to go out and meet someone, anyone… anyone except the neighbor who comes on too strong, steals Alex's mail and bakes him cookies.

Kyle is everything Alex has ever wanted. Strong, smart, capable, caring, and kinky as hell. But is a mutual appreciation for silk and lace worth another heartbreak?

Irreplaceable is equal measures sweet and hot. Kyle is confident and successful in every aspect of his life, unless it involves talking to his hot neighbor. Alex is shy and hurt and not looking for anything but a new chance at life. The two of them don't get off on the right foot but those types of introductions always makes for more interesting beginnings.

Alex does't think anyone would understand him and his love of wearing pretty lacy panties. But then Kyle catches onto his secret and armed with a package of rainbow guilt cookies he tries to sway Alex out of his shell.

From start to finish I was both smiling at how sweet Kyle and Alex are together and fanning myself with how hot they are. The two start hot and heavy but they stay sweet and vulnerable at the same time. Alex had a bad experience once before and isn't too open to trying something with Kyle, but he can't deny what Kyle makes him feel-safe, cared for, and worthy.

I loved the relationship they build. Once they get together they learn each other in all the big and small ways.

Who knew that two guys with a kink for panties would be hot? Kate Hawthorne and EM Denning did and they are correct. I loved all the scenes that describe their play time and photo sessions.

Alex finds a confidence in himself thanks to Kyle's love for him, something that is obvious when Alex stands up to his venomous ex. My heart went out to Alex many times over the course of the book. His self-confidence was at an all time low and I just wanted to hug him and take all his pain away. That's where Kyle comes in and helps Alex realize how strong he really is for who he is.

Both of these characters embrace who they are. Even if it takes a little while. They both embrace the love they have for one another, and with the help from Kyle's sister and Alex's best friend they learn to get out of their own heads and let themselves be loved. Something that means so much to so many. These characters have a unique kink, neither expected to find someone who would understand them and that is important. With Kyle and Alex embracing who they are individually and together it's showing the readers that it's okay to be a little different. Whether that crossed the minds or the authors or not it's a good message to have.

These two authors are great individually. I love reading their words. Together they are awesome. They seamlessly wrote a book about two guys who find their love for each other in cookies, crepes, and panties. I would love to see more collaborations from these two, though I am never going to be able to look at crepes the same way again.

*Quote

"He let himself enjoy the warm sensation in his stomach, the satisfied feeling that had less to do with the amazing meal Kyle gave him and more to do with the simple acceptance Kyle offered."

"Alex could handle people making mistakes; he couldn't handle people who brushed them aside, never owned up to them or people who avoided the consequences of their actions."

"I adore you."

"He knew that what he had with Kyle was a once in a lifetime kind of thing. Kyle set him free in ways he never thought possible...Finding Kyle was the first miracle. Keeping him would be the second."
