I'm not going to lie I was terrified to read this book. I knew it was going to hurt, and I knew I wasn't ready. Even after having read the book I'm not ready.
No Regrets was beautiful, yes it made me cry, but it wasn't until I saw that Nicky James had planned on writing Abel's After story that made me sob. Throughout the whole book you know what is going to happen to Landon, you know where that is going to leave Abel, but actually seeing it is not easy.
New Beginnings hurts, a lot. I went through a lot of tissues as I was reading. Abel was hurting, I was hurting for him.
After books are not my favorite, I usually stay away from them because it hurts so much. But I had to make sure that Abel was okay because I loved him so much in No Regrets. Abel needed love, he needed time, he needed someone in his corner to help heal him. And that's what he gets in New Beginnings.
New Beginnings isn't a walk in the park. It is a book that follows a broken man on his journey of healing.
My heart bleed, my eyes leaked and so many times I wanted to pull Abel out of my Kindle and hold him.
Nicky James gave us a book that broke our hearts, and then piece by piece put them back together again.
You need to read No Regrets first, you need to understand who Abel is and why he does and acts the way he does in New Beginnings. Once you understand that, you will be able to appreciate the beauty that is New Beginnings. You will cry. You will hate Nicky James for putting Abel through the pain.
But you will feel the healing.
I'm so glad I pushed past my fear of this book and experienced this journey. It hurt, but it healed at the same time.
