Book Talk Review; Breakable
Tammara Webber's Contours Of The Heart Series Book 2
Breakable
Breakable
He was lost and alone.
Then he found her.
And the future seemed more fragile than ever.
As a child, Landon Lucas Maxfield believed his life was perfect and looked forward to a future filled with promise -- until tragedy tore his family apart and made him doubt everything he ever believed.
All he wanted was to leave the past behind. When he met Jacqueline Wallace, his desire to be everything she needed came so easy...
As easy as it could be for a man who learned that the soul is breakable and that everything you hoped for could be ripped away in a heartbeat.

This book broke me. It tore at my heart and at my soul.
I loved Easy and I loved Lucas in Easy.
This is Lucas' story. It's more than just Easy in his perspective, we see things we didn't get to see in Easy. We get to see who Landon is, who he was before he became Lucas.
This book broke my heart. We got the Mystery of Lucas in Easy and we found out what happened that night as well. But to actually see the before and after from Lucas's POV is something different all together.
Lucas is broken, he's dealing with the past that has haunted him since he was thirteen. He's trying to make a life for himself. He doesn't want or need love.
And then he meets Jacqueline.
And she changes everything.
The way they meet is not the perfect fairytale scene. But a real one that brings out real harsh emotions. And then she's everywhere for him.
But that's not when he first noticed her. He saw her in class with Kennedy, he drew her when he needed something to motivate him to sketch. He was already falling way before he actually knew her. Before he even knew that he was falling.
Lucas is more than the guy that we get in Easy. We get Landon too. The transformation is at times heartbreaking. Everything that he went through shaped him into the person he is.
He is a good, caring, protective person. Someone that's worth more than he originally thinks. The thing is he can't let Jacqueline in. Not in the way he wants to. That means giving up what he's always protected. Himself.
This book is harsh and it's complicated. This book is real and broken.
I think I loved this book more than I loved Easy. Which is saying something becasue when Easy came out I loved it so much. But this book has a different feel to it.
It's the same Easy Story that we know and love but with more in it that completely turns it around and makes it a whole new story with the same story line from Easy.
*Quote- "Everyone isn't logical. Everything doesn't make sense in the end. Sometimes you have to forget about expectations or excuses and leave people and places behind, becasue otherwise they will drag you straight down." -Landon
" Luck could be earned and created. it could be discovered. It could be regained. After all-I'd found this girl. I'd found my future. I'd found forgiveness. My mother would have been happy for me. For the first time in a very long time, I didn't feel guilty about that." -Lucas
