Book Talk Review; Insurgent
The second installment to the Divergent Series
Insurgent...
One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you.
But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.
Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful.
Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.
New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian Divergent series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.
A LOSS
A BURDEN
ONE CHOICE
But it was still good, and I am still in love with four.
This book picks up right were Divergent left off. Marcus, Peter, Caleb, Tris, and Four are on the train on their way to the Amity Compound.
But the question is, will the Amity let them stay? Will the Amity allow them a safe house after what went down with the Abnegation?
The Amity are all about peace, and a group of War Refugees does not mean Peace.
The Erudite are still out there, they are still at large and they are still trying to collect the Divergent.
What happens when Tris learns that her parents might have sacrificed themselves not for her, but for a greater knowledge?
There were many points in this book, I'd say like the middle half, after the very good start, but before the good ending, that I was pissed off at Tris and the stupid decisions that she was making.
And I'm not the only one, Four was as well very upset with Tris for most of this book. There were times when I sympathized with her, but compared to all the stupid things she was doing, I saw no justification for them.
The group tries to take Shelter at Amity but after the Erudite go there first- because that is the most Logical place for them to hide at that point- they run into The Factionless.
And well, they are introduced to a surprise when they get there.
They also find that the Factionless have a plan to take down the Erudite, but they need Dauntless help.
The rest of Abnegation- what's left of it, make there way to Candor Headquarters.
Where there Tris and Four are put under Trial after what happened in the Dauntless Control Room.
From there some of the book goes downhill for a bit when Tris makes the worst decision ever. My heart was breaking- not for her and what she was about to do- but for Four and what her Choice was going to do to him.
The book got better after that. After they were no longer safe with the Candor and after they are no longer Safe at the Dauntless Compound- there own home, the Loyal Dauntless, the ones who aren't following under Jeanie make plans with the Factionless.
Tris makes her own plans, one that will either save them or destroy them. One that will either strengthen her or break her.
The Factionless and the Loyal Dauntless take down Erudite.
But the Information that was uncovered by Tris, will change everything...
I am currently reading Allegiant. My Book Talk for that will go up when I finish.
I went and saw the movie today. Finally I have been dying to see it. It was So Good, Like So Good! They did an awesome Job with it.
