Book Talk Review; Divergent
Divergent by Veronica Roth is the first in the Divergent Series. Followed by Insurgent and then Allegiant.
In Beatrice Prior’s dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can’t have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.
During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live out the choice they have made.
Together they must undergo extreme physical tests of endurance and intense psychological simulations, some with devastating consequences.
As initiation transforms them all, Tris must determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes exasperating boy fits into the life she's chosen.
But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death.
And as she discovers unrest and growing conflict that threaten to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.
Debut author Veronica Roth bursts onto the YA scene with the first book in the Divergent series—dystopian thrillers filled with electrifying decisions, heartbreaking betrayals, stunning consequences, and unexpected romance.

Divergent is a good book. A really good book. It has action and Suspense and Loyalty and Love.. Because as you all know I am a sucker for a good love story.
Beatrice (Tris) Prior is sixteen. and on the day she takes this special test to help determine where she belongs... something goes wrong. And the results could be deadly.
So she makes a choice. A choice that surprises everybody. Including herself.
I wasn't really surprised by Tris's choice. It makes sense in a way, If she had to choose a way to live for the rest of her life she needed to choose one that would help her evolve into the person she really is.
The initiation process was harsh and cruel and it broke the initiates down. Both mentally and physically. Along with Emotionally.
This book tests you in all the ways possible. Some things I was able to pick up on right away but there were other things that were a little harder to pick up and it defiantly kept you on your toes.
And OMG I loved Four so much. He has this sense of mystery about him. As well as this scary Bad-ass persona that he puts out. But he has this vulnerable side to him that we don't really see much of but we know that it is there.
I was SHOCKED by what happened. Like I didn't know what was going to go down but I knew that SOMETHING was. But Veronica COMPLETELY took me by surprise.
This book was just a whirlwind of one thing after another and You didn't know what was going to happen afterwards.
This book stole a little piece of my heart.
Like I need another thing to be Obsessed with. LOL
And there is a Divergent Movie that is coming out March 21th that I cannot wait to see!
I wanted to see the movie before I even read the book. But now that I have read the Book I am so excited for the movie!
And I can't wait until I am able to get my hands on Insurgent!
