Book Talk Review; Billion Dollar Sugar Baby
Pretty Woman but gay
Bachelor. Billionaire. Unlucky in love. Alex Schaffer is tired of rich playboys with ulterior motives.
Broke. Tired. Trying to get by. Wren Collins just wants to look after his found family.
Wren's life is about to go from rags to riches when Alex decides he wants Wren all to himself, and he's willing to pay any price.
It was supposed to be a simple transaction, but what if they went and complicated it by doing something crazy ... like falling in love?
I didn’t know I needed Pretty Woman only gay, but I so did. Wren and Alex are fantastic characters. They’re both a little bit lost in their respective lives for different reasons and when they meet everything changes.

Wren is a sex worker. He’s doing the best he can to help take care of his family. Wren likes being a sex worker, he likes sex, he enjoys some of his clients’ company, but it’s exhausting. He’s an actor, he puts on a new mask every day, and while each one is still him, no one sees all the different masks he wears and loves him anyways. No one outside his small family that is, and even they don’t see all of Wren because his job sometimes makes a wedge appear between them. And then he meets Alex.
Alex is tired of people only being with him because of his money. He doesn’t want any more shallow boys who only care about what he can give them, not how he can love them. When a friend suggests Wren, Alex is hesitant, but he’s also lonely. So lonely that he takes a chance. That chance leads him to Wren, who is beautiful and carefree in ways Alex hasn’t been. He’s fun and exciting and wakes up parts of Alex he never expected.
Their whirlwind romance begins when Alex pays for exclusive rights to Wren’s body. It’s a lot of money and Wren can’t pass it up. It doesn’t hurt that Alex is hot and kind and so very sweet to Wren every step of the way. This book is so cute. Alex and Wren have chemistry right off the bat. They might come from different worlds, but there’s an understanding in the loneliness they both feel. They both give so much of themselves to others, that when it comes down to it, they just want someone to love and cherish them. They find that in each other.
EM Denning killed it with this book. It’s so good to see sex work in a different light. Wren doesn’t hate being a sex worker. He’s one because it was all he thought he was worth in the very beginning sure, but he’s come to enjoy it. Though by the time he meets Alex, he’s tired. So very tired of giving and only getting the minimum effort. It’s why Alex’s offer is so enticing. The money is a bonus, the gifts and the resources Alex tosses Wren’s way without any expectations are nice, but it’s the way Alex cares for him that really draws Wren’s attention. Alex can literally buy whatever he wants, but he can’t buy love. He might buy Wren’s body, but his heart is given to Alex freely. When Alex gives Wren his heart, Wren protects it like no one else has ever done before.
Billion Dollar Sugar Baby is a fun and refreshing read. It’s one that will bring you joy because of how cute these two characters are. Alex and Wren might have found each other for business, but in the end, they discover what they truly need is each other.
*Quote-
“Wren had never felt like this before. As if his entire body was made of light and stardust.”
“You ask for nothing and it makes me want to give you everything.”
“Alex didn’t treat Wren like he was less, simply because he had less. He had a way of looking at Wren that made him feel like the brightest star in the sky. Wren never doubted his worth when Alec was around. He couldn’t. Not when Alex’s every word oozed affection.”
“You don’t get to decide what you’re worth to me. I love you. I’ve never loved someone before, and to me, that makes you precious. Priceless.”
“He’d always sort of imagined that love would feel like chains. He never knew it could be like this. Light, bright, and full of possibility.”
