Book Talk Review; Future Fake Husband
Emo and Evil Word Magician made me swoon
Cole Mallory is on the brink of losing everything.
For the past seven years, Cole has dedicated himself to managing Mallory Vineyards, the winery his family owns. It’s not that he hasn’t had time for a relationship so much as he’s never found anyone he wanted to devote time to beyond the initial getting to know you stage. But that all needs to change—and fast—because if Cole wants to inherit the vineyard, he needs to be married.
Rhett Kingston is about to have a new life dropped into his lap.
What started out as a night of lonely drinking in a local bar ends with Rhett agreeing to "fake marry" his twin brother’s best friend. Rhett will act as the perfect future fake husband for Cole and, in turn, Cole will help Rhett launch the event planning business he’s always dreamed of owning.
Before they know it, their totally fake relationship is tangled up with completely mutual desire. After a destination wedding forces Cole and Rhett into the same bed, sparks fly and fictional feelings escalate and threaten to turn into something very, very real and more than either of them bargained for.

I love E.M. Denning. I love Kate Hawthorne. They both write books that are sweet, hot, and usually make me cry. And I did cry with this one, only it was happy tears, thankfully.
These two authors together are gold. Future Fake Husband is an adorable story. I love the premise of fake relationships, there's just something about the idea of falling in love due to the forced proximity gets me.
Cole and Rhett have known each other their whole lives. Cole's best friend is Rhett's twin, another trope that I love. Best friend's brother can always go either or and I love the drama, though there wasn't any here. Which is okay, because this book is sweet and funny, and it didn't need any added angst. Cole needs to get married to inherit his family's vineyard. Rhett needs help getting his business off the ground.
It's not using if they're using each other, right? Just a mutual business agreement between two consenting adults. At least that's what Cole and Rhett start out with. It quickly goes off the rails.
I love how easy these two get together. While neither one of them is looking for more, their fake relationship doesn't stay fake for long. In true Emo and Word Magician style things heat up and these two want--need more.
I loved how sweet and simple this book was. It wasn't too angsty, even though there were moments of drama within Cole's family. Neither man let insecurities get in the way of what they were building. They might not have ever looked at the other as more than a friend over the years, but when they started to, they found everything they didn't know they needed.
Even those the premise is fake boyfriends who would eventually become fake husbands, things are very real very fast and there's no back and forth between either of them. Are there doubts? Yes, but that's to be expected, but once they know what they want they go after it, which I love. It was easy to see that Cole and Rhett were falling fast and hard and it was cute when they tried to deny it those first few days.
There are a lot of funny moments in this book. There's a killer street crab, a fern named Lucy, a lot of wine, and some others things I can't say because of spoilers.
I felt good while reading this book. These two authors normally make me feel so many things and I am so happy they wrote a book that is fun and made me feel good. I did cry, but they were happy tears and I was shocked that something I knew was coming made me cry. Maybe because it was so sweet, so romantic, so well-written, I couldn't help but tear up.
If you're looking for a sweet book to give you all the warm fuzzy feels this winter then pick up Future Fake Husband.

"People aren't just the sum of their details, but it's how people are different from each other."
"He wasn't certain, but he had a fleeting thought that this moment here, right now, was what falling in love was like."
"He wasn't supposed to want Cole the way he needed him."
"Cole thought of how different his life would have been if at any point in his youth he'd have just stopped and looked to Ryan's side and seen Rhett there—really seen him—for the boy he'd been or the man he was now."
