Blog Tour; Whispers And The Roars

Whispers and the Roars

by K. Webster Publication Date: December 6, 2016 Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Dark Romance

new-front-only

When my eyes are closed, the monster can’t ever see me.

When I sing a song in my head, the monster can’t ever hear me. When I pretend my bedroom is a playground where I play hide and seek, the monster can’t ever find me.

The darkness should frighten me. I should worry I’ll find more monsters…monsters scarier than him. But I’m not afraid.

It’s safe here.
When I’m inside of my head…

 He. Can’t. Ever. Touch. Me.

Warning: Whispers and the Roars is a dark romance. Strong sexual themes and violence, which could trigger emotional distress are found in this story. The abuse written in this story is graphic and not glossed over which could be upsetting to some. Proceed with caution. This story is NOT for everyone.

Review

I've read eleven K Webster books this year. That's the most books by one author I've read this year. Not the most by a single author I've ever read, but in one year, that's impressive. That's less than half of the books that Kristi has in publication.

And out of all those books, this one is my favorite. I think that this is K Webster's best book.

There's a complexity to this book, more so than any other of her books. The characters are all complex with difficult pasts. The way their relationships are woven are hard to decipher at times. Lines blur and there are things that you cannot understand unless you read the book in it's entirety.

When I started Whispers and the Roars I wasn't sure what to expect. Like all of K's books, especially the more darker ones, the blurb is a bit a bit ambiguous, you don't know what you're getting yourself into until you actually dive in.

And I suggest that you dive into this book headfirst. You might think it's clean and cut when you begin, that's what I did. I thought I had a good idea where the plot was. I should never have thought that. One day I will learn my lesson. K Webster does nothing but surprise you at every turn.

My heart broke for many of the characters in this book. It felt their pain, it also felt their strength. One of the things I'm learning over and over again is to not underestimate the mind of K Webster. You cold read every single book she's ever written but at the end of the day, you will never be able to understand her. Each book is different and unique in it's own twisted way. Whispers and the Roars is one of the best books I've read by K because of this. It's more complex than some of her books. It grabs you and fucks with your mind.

I saw many people saying that. That this was a mind fucker. When I started, I didn't believe them. I should have.

Whispers and the Roars starts off slow, you get a feel for the characters and the story, but the deeper you go the more complex it gets. The more you start to question, just whose story is this.

In short, it's the story of every single character. Just because it's told in a limited view point, does not mean that every single isn't important. It doesn't mean that this story is just about the people telling it. Do not think this book is easy.

But also, don't go into this book and expect it to be your typical K Webster dark book. I'm talking the Gabe cucumber typical. It's more than that. It's more psychological, and it will mess with you if you let it.

This is one of those few books I will reread, because I cannot let this story go. Or it can't let go of me. I'm no longer sure who's in charge.

Let this story grip you. You won't regret it.
