Read-Along; Breaking Brandon-Day 3
What happened in chapters 12 - chapter 17?:
Regina and Brandon progress a little bit in their physical relationship after their day of bonding and can’t get over how much they enjoy making out with each other. He opens up to her a bit about his past, about Sofie, but doesn’t tell her much.
She invites him over for a sleepover the next day, and when he gets there, she receives a mysterious package from someone named Chris in New York. He’s curious about it, but she won’t tell him what it is and who it’s from - it’s a book from her therapist, so sort of a happy therapy anniversary present.
After a heated discussion about whether or not men and women can be friends, Brandon tells her that they have to be all or nothing. They can’t be just friends. He explains that he never makes attachments like this, but it’s different with her.
Although it’s moving a little fast, Regina ends up moving in with him temporarily. His apartment is one story and she still can’t get around, so it makes the most sense. One day while she’s snooping through his belonging she stumbles across some riding crops and paddles in his closet. She doesn’t say anything to him, but she’s curious.
They have a fight when Regina’s therapist calls her - Brandon assumes Chris is a guy, and wants to know who she’s talking to. Regina shuts him down - they’ve only been together for a week and she’s not ready to share everything with him yet.
She opens up to him more after she gets into a fight with her friend Janecia at dinner. She shares her past with him, about her fear of motorcycles, the reason she takes anxiety medicine and the death of her husband and her miscarriage, and the fact that she bought a gun.

About BREAKING BRANDON
He ruled out attachments years ago.
He ruled out attachments years ago.
Then one day he crosses paths with a beautiful but pampered daddy's little princess.
History has taught him one thing about women like her—steer clear.
She was starting over.
She moved back to her home town, took a new job assignment, and left her past behind.
For the first time in over eighteen months, she's even intrigued by a man—a sexy but cold and indifferent drill sergeant.
Despite feeling drawn to him, she has no time to figure out his inexplicable aversion to her.
Then Fate steps in one night, forcing them together.
There's a connection neither can refute, and they both consider giving into the undeniable attraction.
Fate however can also be cruel.
Just when they surrender to their heart's desires, past demons resurface in the most unexpected way, threatening the happiness neither realized they so desperately needed.
New Adult Contemporary - *Mature Content* Recommended for ages 17+ due to sexual situations and language.

I absolutely think a guy and girl can be friends. One of my best friends is a guy and I wouldn't change our relationship for anything.
ReplyDeleteThis book gives me all the feels. I love Brandon. I loved him when he was introduced in The Moreno Brothers series.
And can I just say "what's past is prologue" has been one of my favorite quotes my entire life! I got chills when I read it. So perfect!
Thanks for your thoughts! One of my best friends is a guy as well, and I love the relationship we have.
DeleteBrandon surprised me, but I'm so glad he got his own book!

Yes I do. Two of my closest friends are males and I've known them for 14 and 12 years. We are very close and have never crossed the line between friendship so I do believe it is possible to have a solid male/female friendship without the extra complicated stuff :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your thoughts!

I think it is certainly possible. It depends on the individuals and where they are at in their lives. If they are in separate relationships, I think a friendship can form and stay that way. But, attraction is something that could always change and make a difference in a friendship.
