“Arik and Kellus captivated me and kept me glued to my kindle.” - 5 Star Shh Mom’s Reading
“Another fabulous book that will steal a piece of your heart. Loved Arik and Kellus.” - 5 Star Becca the Bibliophile
I fell in love with Kindle Alexander(s)'s writing when I read The Current Between Us. Not only do they write M/M, which is my newfound obsession, they do it in a way that makes "straight" romance look boring.
There is so much emotion in this book, so much heat, so much heart. I absolutely loved every second of this book.
While I did read a few reviews saying that Painted on my Heart started out a bit slow I was weary. The one thing I hate (more than whiny females) is books that go nowhere for the longest time. However I wasn't disappointed. I knew right away that this book, these characters were going to catch my attention like none other.
Kellus was broken. He was feeling the pain of his past and not allowing himself to live like he should have been.
Arik has enjoyed a free lifestyle for so long. Everyone, including his playboy cousin has settled down. Arik wishes for that connection, he wants the connection that everyone else has. He just doesn't know if he will ever find it.
When Arik comes face to face with the tormented artist, he realizes that he's had that connection all along. He just didn't know it, his only problem was to get Kellus to agree with him.
What Kindle Alexander wrote is beautiful, it's touching, it's reality. They touch on some tough subjects. The emotions are real and so many times I felt my heart breaking for Kellus. He was dealt a shitty hand. Watching him go through it alone broke m heart.
Many reviewers said that Arik was too arrogant. Too pushy, too much. I didn't see that. I saw Arik as someone who knew what he wanted. Who knew how to take charge and prove to his loved ones that they meant the world to him.
I loved seeing some familiar characters and I want to read more Kindle Alexander books so that I can understand all the dynamics of each character they have written. From what I've learned quite a few characters from other books make appearances in Painted on my heart.
If you aren't sure on where or how to start with the M/M genre. Give this book a try. The emotion, the raw reality, the sex, everything about this book will get you hooked to not only the genre, but to Kindle Alexander books in general. I thought I loved their writing after The Current Between Us. Now I am just slightly addicted and cannot wait to read more from this dynamic duo.
*Quote- "What he felt was bigger and stronger than any baggage Kellus might be carrying."
"With every breath, he drew Kel into his lungs and into his body. No one had ever held any sort of power over him-no one, that was, until he met Kellus Hardin. And now he knew without a doubt that Kel was the one who held all the cards."
Best Selling Author Kindle Alexander is an innovative writer, and a genre-crosser who writes classic fantasy, romance, suspense, and erotica in both the male/male and male/female genres. It's always a surprise to see what's coming next!
I live in the suburbs of Dallas where it's true, the only thing bigger than an over active imagination, may be women's hair!
Usually, I try for funny. Humor is a major part of my life - I love to laugh, and it seems to be the thing I do in most situations - regardless of the situation, but jokes are a tricky deal... I don't want to offend anyone and jokes tend to offend. So instead I'm going to tell you about Kindle.
I tragically lost my sixteen year old daughter to a drunk driver. She had just been at home, it was early in the night and I heard the accident happen. I'll never forget that moment. The sirens were immediate and something inside me just knew. I left my house, drove straight to the accident on nothing more than instinct. I got to be there when my little girl died - weirdly, I consider that a true gift from above. She didn't have to be alone.
That time in my life was terrible. It's everything you think it would be times about a billion. I love that kid. I loved being her mother and I loved watching her grow into this incredibly beautiful person, both inside and out. She was such a gift to me. To have it all ripped away so suddenly broke me.
Her name was Kindle. Honest to goodness - it was her name and she died a few weeks before Amazon released their brand new Kindle ereader. She had no idea it was coming out and she would have finally gotten her name on something! Try finding a ruler with the name Kindle on it.. It never happened.
Through the course of that crippling event I was lucky enough to begin to write with a dear friend in the fan fiction world of Facebook. She got me through those dark days with her unwavering support and friendship. There wasn't a time she wasn't there for me. Sometimes together and sometimes by myself, we built a world where Kindle lives and stands for peace, love and harmony. It's its own kind of support group. I know without question I wouldn't be here today without her.
